most accurate long range shotgun.

I would like to start a discussion about how we could mame the most accurate shotgun. Currently I am using an H&R and accutips after trying all others. I am looking for ideas or suggestions to make it better. My list so far is simple, I am having a crown cut were there is none. That is all I can come up with. The trigger job creates some new problems with the safety so thats out. Any thoughts.

Living in a shotgun only state, my buddy and I bought a couple of Savage 220's a couple of years ago. No problem getting 1 MOA out to 200 yards with a variety of different loads. On a good day they will print cover leaves at 100 yards. Mine really likes 2 3/4" Accutips, my buddy's likes Hornady SST's. I believe they are the same projectiles.

I'm with him, built up a savage with EGW rings and bases, leupold slug hunter scope. Very accurate shotguns.

Sorry for the confusion, I have tried several 220's. I am currently using a HR ultra slughunter, Leopold scope. I can easily make all holes touch at 100 yards. My question is can u guys think of anything that could make it even better. Longer custom barrel? I have a fortune in this adventure and many slug guns later the hr is the best ive come acrossed but can we make it better. Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a 24" Hastings barrel with a sabot discharge muzzle brake. I cut it off the brake because it would shred the sabot. Best groups were 2 1/2" @ 100 yds. with Barnes expander. I should of went with a heavy 26" Hastings and be done with it. My old rem 1100 shoots clover leafs @ 100 yds with imp. cylinder, double bead sites and 28" smooth bore target barrel, thats with 1oz rifled winchesters. I'm getting a H&R next its a tank of a gun.

I would look at the tarhunt RSG line. I love mine but they are a bit expensive for a slug gun.

I have a Benelli M1 with a rifled choke. Seems I can usually get 3 holes touching at 100 yds. (from a rest) with Hornady SST slugs and a cheap Simmons 1.5X -4X shotgun scope. Saboted slugs are HORRIBLE!

Yeah, a fully rifled Benelli barrel would be nice but here in the west a Browning A-Bolt .300 Win. mag rifle is my toy of choice.

Later I'll be getting a Desert Tactical Arms in the same caliber. Just have to wait for a year backlog.

Add a Nikon slug hunter scope. Learn your actual drops per line. Practice to 250 and 300 and use a good rangefinder.

Love my Remington 870 with a pinned barrel.

But found a Browning A-bolt. Guys says it drives tacks. Set up with a scope and boxes of slugs to go. New theses are over a grand. They now come in camo.

Bounty Hunter I think you are correct sir. I have both the Nikon and leupold slug scopes and decided on leupold, only because the rectical fit me better at long range. The Nikon is far better for short range though. I am sure the ammo is the limited factor here. After 200 yards the energy falls off tho fast similar to my 458 socom. I think I am done spending money on my longrange shotgunning for the time being thanks for all the info.
