Hi LRH, New guy here. I'd like to share a shooting video I made a little while ago doing some long range shooting with my Savage 110 BA 338 Lapua. Hope you enjoy the vid!

The sound at the target of the gun report reminds me of deployment hearing the 155's and distant mortars. sweet video

Just goes to prove theres no need to spend $4500.00 to $ 10.000 on a custom rifle when you can have one like this... Glad you posted it.

Great video.

I have one that is set up just like yours just I'm shooting the Berger 300gr pills. Fun rig to shoot for sure. Haven't stretched her out to the 1760 mark yet but she's deadly at 1550yds. Only reason I haven't shot any farther is I'm out of mountains at 1550 lol

Cool stuff! 1550 yards is plenty far in my book! So how do you like the Bergers? I'm currently about to shoot a ladder test (as soon as the wind dies down a bit) with the 300 gr Bergers and develop a load with those.

Oh as soon as you lift your head from that nightforce 1550 seems like a **** long ways!!

But I love them Bergers, I shoot them in just about everything I have.

What powder are you using?

Cool, I've heard good things about them so that's why I bought a bunch of the Bergers. I'll be using H1000 powder but I also have 1 lb of Retumbo to play with as well. What powder do you use and what charge weight works good for you?

I played with both retumbo and h1000 and h1000 was the ticket! Mine really like a hot load! Way hot now that I look at Bergers load recommendation.

H1000: 80-84.3

My load is 92gr of h1000 with 300gr Bergers. Work up from the load data. please!! It chronographed an average of 2750 fps.

Last year i shot a mulie doe at 1120 yards. I touched off the first round and it was high. Realized I had forgot to account for my 17* slope. Dialed down my 3/4 moa and waited for my next shot. (She only ran 20 yards and continued to feed.) When I touched off she decided to make another step and I ended up hitting her in the gut region. She dropped like a ton of bricks. Upon arrival to the doe entry was the size of a quarter and exit was approx. 3" round. Everything inside looked like it had been through a blender and dropped back inside the chest cavity.

I have the same setup only using 93gr Retumbo. A few weeks ago work companions from Texas wanted to shoot one mile so we traveled south of Helena onto BLM. We started just above 2000 yards and ended up moved in closer to 1 mile. As usual there were changing winds thus it took a few rounds for the gentlemen to hit a 12" target. For the first timer, pinging a target at that range brings smiles, and usual disbelief.

That's awesome I love to see people getting into shooting.

LRH is a different story... To many people trying to take animals at long ranges with no field time behind the rifle shooting paper or steel. **** 700 yards is a long ways!! Ya there is a lot of us who shoot double that then some but 700 yards is a good distance for shot on an animal.. And there are people that think just because they have a set up that is capable that they are capable of shooting that far with out practice.

Ran into a guy and his son one season and between the two of them it sounded like (world war Z) between the two of them there was at least 20 rounds fired. asked them if they had got anything and they were beside them selves because there 300 wsm's weren't hitting these elk at 700 yds..

I asked how much they had practiced with shooting long range and the dad responded well I've shoot out to 300 yds that's as far as the range is set up for all I said was your setting a great example for your son on what not to do and started down towards where the elk tracks were to see if I could find any blood trails. The dad and his kid started hiking back to the truck. I did end up getting a huge cow that day one that had been hit right infront of the hind quarters. If I wouldn't have went and talked to them she would have gone to waste for sure... Just sad to me. got way off topic there sorry guys.

Grizzdude seems to be enjoying his rifle and practice. I don't think he would go thru this much effort to post the video if he didn't enjoy shooting mile distances.

Yes, gun/cartridge capability can be a crutch if not fully appreciated. Hince the famous last words of many, "Watch this #$&^." Just because one "has" doesn't mean one should or can, especially when trying to pass on tradition and not experienced in the fundamental aspects of what #&%* faces them. Unfortunate. Everyone will make their own choices but ultimately I decide with whom I will continue to hunt.

??? That comment had nothing to do with Grizzdude or you or anyone else? Just a statement About how I think people should practice before going out and doing it out hunting. It is fairly apparent that he has done some practice shooting at long range.. 1760 yards worth.

All I was saying is that there are a lot of people that just think that they can do it because they seen/hear someone else did it. And in my opinion that's not a good judgment.. Obviously not Intended for most on this board.. Just a statement.gun)

I took your intent that way, just didn't want to sidetrack the post too much yet show credit to a guy who started the post with a great 1 mile video.
