Has anyone tried the new Berger 130 gr hybrid Classic Hunter bullets? I just wondered if they really were not sensitive to seating depth. I have tried the VLDs before and they shoot great touching the lands on my rifle but if I move them back 0.005" then the group size doubles. I was hoping these new hybrid bullets would not have that problem.

I bought some at a store in Colorado Springs called Specialty Sports Supply. The last time I was in Sportsman's Warehouse they had some too. I have not looked for them online.

I used 250 grain hybrids in my .338 RUM, and they worked very well. They do shoot a bit better close to the lands, but they still do very well sitting in the mag.
the hybrid design does what they claim.

I shot a few in my .270 and have so far gotten 6" groups at 100 yards. I'm afraid they are not stabilizing in my barrel.

I've used them in both my 7mag 168gr, and 243 95gr. I've been very pleased with the performance I've gotten. They are insensitive to seating depth, but they are not numb to it. I'm currently usung the 180gr Hybrid in the 7mag. So far it has proven to be fairly insensitive to seating depth as well but not as insensitive as the Classic Hunter. This Ojive design is very very good imho.

I thought the Classic Hunter and the Hybrid were the same thing.

yes and no, the classic hunter was designed to be loaded to sammi specs, so you can seat them to magazine length, they are a Hybrid design. The "HYBRID" is more closely related to VLD's in that their typically designed to for the highest BC without regard to COAL

Product Information
Berger Hybrid bullets are designed to achieve extreme accuracy for competitive and recreational target shooters. Berger Hybrid bullets combine a tangent ogive with a secant ogive to produce the highest possible BC with the least sensitivity to seating depth. This allows the reloader to take full advantage of the best features of both designs.

The Classic Hunter line of Hybrid Hunting Bullet is the first bullet that Berger designed to comply with SAAMI dimensional standards. This bullet line is designed for hunters who want to use Berger Hybrid bullets in factory rifles that have had problems in the past developing loads with the regular Berger Hunting Bullets. These bullets feed exceptionally well through magazines of factory rifles helping to ensure that each time the action is cycled the round will feed smoothly without any hiccups; helping to guarantee a round is in the chamber when it is needed.

Anyone have any new load info for this bullet? I'm currently shooting it .100 off the lands. If I get any closer there isn't much bullet bearing surface left in the case neck. Think I might have a load with imr 7828 at 60.5 grains. Have to confirm this still as it was only a 3 shot group.

They aren't sensitive to seating depth.
With virtually no load development I'm able to get a high percentage of V- Bulls at 1000 yards out of my heavy barrelled TIKKA M65. The bullets comfortably fit in the magazine.
I use SAKO brass that I full length size, and anneal every time. I used 60.3 grains of Vihtavouri N165 and Federal 210 primers. *** Safe in my rifle but may not be in another ****.
Awesome bullet both in accuracy and terminal effect.
