So witch Kestrel weather meter is the best one for shooting i don't need the ones with ballistics in them i was looking at a 4000 any ideas

Get the 4000 or 4500, they will give you density altitude (DA). DA simplifies data entry into your ballistic program. Also, after using your kestrel for awhile you will be able to fairly accurately guess the ballpark DA.

For some people like me, who don't have a smart phone, the Kestrel with the new AB ballistics software is a one box solution to the ballistics question. I already have a ton of crap I drag around, so I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Thinking strongly about getting this one, especially since I've seen the delay my shooting buddies have with uploading info via bluetooth from their Kestrels to Shooter.

Can the ballistic software be downloaded to this? Huge difference in price.

That's a good question. I haven't looked into it too much. I only learned of the Kestrel/AB partnership a few days ago and I've never owned a Kestrel.

well there is a new 4000 on the way to my house.
I sent an email to Kestrel asking this question. I'll update when I receive a response.
Sweet. Could you post your impressions/opinion after you've had time to use it?
So Kestrel got back to me and they said that it could not be downloaded to the 4000 or the 4500.
