I like the line vortex optics and they seem reliable and perfect for what I want them for. But I haven't ever used a vortex scope so is it a reliable brand?

Candidly, they all are (reliable), at least the ones that cost more than a couple hunderd bucks. They all have the same guarantee which has become the insustry standard so it becomes a matter of personal preference. I like Vortex optics in general, but then I have many brands.

My least favorite of the lot is the Nikon. The magnification rings on Nikon's are too stiff for my liking.

Get down in the lower price point anf you have warranty issues. Nothing warranted after the purchase. I don't need a non functional scope for an extra powder funnel.:D

I can't go that far with inanimate objects. A tool is a tool. I don't romance any tool. My country, my wife and my coon hound........:)

haha! I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy one. They are great scopes for the money. I have a Viper 6.5-20x44, 4-16x50 PST and a 6-24x50 PST FFP, and they all track very well.
