I threw together a .243 AI to play with in anticipation of a PD shoot this summer.

I'm in the process of making an exotic hardwood A-5 stock for it, but for the mean time, I stuck it in an A3-5L for some load development. It's shooting the 105 Hybrids pretty well, so I loaded up a few for fireforming and figured I would get some real world dope while the old man had fun shooting groundhogs.

T'was a bit windy yesterday, and the old man missed more than he's used to, but I take the blame as I'm the guy turning the knobs.

We bounced around a few farms, and settled in on this one as there were a significant amount of critters in the 5-700 yard area. I knew he wouldn't break his 820 yard record, but hey... it was a good place to spend the day with my dad, doing what we love to do... At 85 years old, I cherish our time in the field wheter it's hitting or missing..

His longest of the day was 628 yards.

What kind of shooting bench is that??

That's a custom made adjustable/lightweight bench that we use for varmint and big game hunting. I sourced some of the parts, made a few myself, then assembled it to fit our needs. I just sent one to TX, and one to CO, and reports are they work extremely well.

They do work extremely well! I love mine! its crazy how stable that thing is...

Looks like you had a good day Joel! Anytime you can get out with your dad and spend time together its a great thing...gun)

looks like someone got the terrapin out to play...

Great post Joel. You're lucky that you can spend that kind of quality time with your dad---wished mine was still around.

Randy

He's with you in spirit, watching over you as you continue to make him proud!

Last week I told my Dad that I booked his flight and he's joining us on the PD trip:D

He's been wound tighter than a $2 watch. Worse than my kids at Christmas. Calls me daily to make sure he has everything...I told him that he doesn't need anything but himself. He's going to drive my mother crazy for the next month...

That's funny----take lots of photos!
Our big week is coming the first of June, I can hardly wait till then.
