300WSM build on a short acton ?.............HELP!!!!

Guys trying to put this build together on a Pierce Ti SA and using a HS DBM. My question is for those that have a 300WSM in a short action could you guys get to the lands with the long bullets such as the 208 AMAX's, and big(long) Berger's with your DBM's. Was thinking about this route instead of using a long action. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Surely whoever chambers it can give you less free bore so you can reach the lands ok the issue will be the limited COAL to fit the HS DBM. The Bergers are going to be seated well in the case.
Wouldn't you be better of with Alpha Ind 300 wsm type 3 mag or a BDL and Wyatts box?

Yes thats my ? as to COAL in the DBM, but want a HS DBM because they fit really close to the stock!!!!

I can't remember what your max coal is a in a HS DBM something like 2.89. That's pretty cramped for a WSM with a VLD style bullet.
I'm sure someone with more experience than I will chip in.

It's real easy to get your WSM's to measure over 3 inches with the heavy bullets.
That's why I had my Browning SA mags stretched to 3.045 internal for my 7 saum. And the saum is a shorter cartridge. My SA Winchester WSM mag box was 3.045 also.

Seems like the short action WSM and SAUM are good candidates for a long action mag box.

You will reach the lands but you will also have a way more bullet stuffed in the case than needed.
With HS DBM a 175 SMK is about the perfect set up for amount of bullet in the case.
If you want the bullet seated so its not using up case capacity its a long action cartridge with heavies. I've toasted a few barrels in a short action and its a great set up for mid range with 175's
I also sold my HS DBM, it was too short for even some lots of 175's seated 10 off. HS gave me max useable length of 2.860 and that was tight for reliability. AI's type mags from Accurate Mag will give you 2.980"

Yep, especially if you want "chase the lands" with a repeater using 208 A-Max.
