Accubond LR in hand

i recieved my order of lr accubond 2nds today. they are .308 dia and 210 grain.

i took some pictures and measurements (best i could without fancy measuring devices.

one thing to note is that these have a longer bearing surface than 210 VLD i believe.

bearing surface measurements... as precise as i could get...

210 LRAB= 0.597
210 VLD= 0.573
215 HYBRID= 0.545

one thing i notice is the very long boattail compared to the original accubond, also the sharp transition from bearing to boattail.

the pics compare 210 vld, 210 hybrid, and LRAB 210.
teh one with another accubond is a 7mm 140 grain to compare shape.

Cool!! I am actually pretty impressed with nosler, i dont think they will hit .73 but i think they will land around .640-.650. Should be very interesting, let me know if you happen to stumble across anymore. gun)

they say that they are cosmetic blemishes. show some marks. lots show lines in the metal on the nose behind the tip.

That does look pretty severe on the back end of the bullet.

Congrats on scoring some new AB LR's. I am anxious to hear your report on how well they shoot and your calculation of actual BC from the field.

I suspect that they had to have a little longer bearing surface rather than lengthen the nose because they want them to shoot in a 10 twist. They will have more weight forward than a Berger so this would be necessary. They also have a thicker jacket. I am with Barnesuser on the b.c. There is NO WAY they are .730! I would guess them at around .660 b.c........Rich

Is it just me or does it seem a little lame that the first bullets out of a hot new "game changer" bullet are blems
They do look better in actual pictures than in drawings, good boat tail and I like that they made the plastic tip smaller so it's not as aggressive up close but should still give it some action at long range.

i agree that it is odd that they released blems before the actual product... but im not complaining! especially for the price.
i am hoping to be able to do some shooting in the next couple weeks.

Midway recieved some non blems but they sold out in 30 minutes. I am keeping an eye out for them, i want to give them a try from the 30/375 S.I.!! gun) The smith has the barrel and i should be getting my brass and 338 rcm die tomorrow.

BULLBLASTER, after you have done accuracy testing, long range doping, etc... if it would be possible to test some at low velocity like 1300-1500 fps i think most here would be interested. What case are you going to be shooting them from?

Well you can do it a couple different ways but none will give you exactly the same results as shooting them into game. You can wet newspapers and shoot them with a reduced load at close range, or at long range (would have to be way out there to hit 1300 fps). You could also save some milk jugs and fill them with water and shoot them with a reduced load at close range. For a reduced load i would pick up some trail boss and follow the directions given on the hodgdon website, seat a bullet and fill the case of with powder to where the end of the boattail would be. Then shoot it and chronograph the velocity to know where you are at. IMO elkaholic is the king of bullet testing.
