I'm in the market for a new scope and been researching the Conquest HD5 5-25x50 for a while. I've had a Conquest 6.5-20 with rapid z varmint reticle for about 2 years and love it. Thinking about picking up the HD5 with the rapid-z1000 reticle for my 308. So based on what I read so far the HD5 has only 16.5MOA Up adj once the zero stop has been set. This shouldnt be a problem for me since I'm planning on using the holdovers most of the time. The question that I have, and this might sound stupid to you guys, is how much down adjustment can I make from zero stop? It sounds like the turret will not move down from zero. I can only move up 16.5MOA. Is that correct? I've never had a scope with zero stop so while I have an idea what it does in not 100% sure. The reason I'm asking about moving down is that in order for z1000s holdovers to work as intended the rifle has to be zeroed at 500yds. What I want is to set the zero at 500yds and use the holdovers, but also to have the ability to, for example, dial the turret down 11MOA and have my zero at 100yds or about 9MOA for 200yd zero. Is this possible with the HD5s zero stop? Can someone shed some light on this? TIA
