Hi,
I just purchased a M700 Sendero SF II in 7mm Rem Mag. It's going to be a lil while till I actually get to shoot it though. Saving to purchase a scope right now. I'm looking for some load data since this will be the first I've loaded for this round. I'm planning on using Norma brass and want to start out with the 168 and 180 Berger VLDS. I'm not sure which powder selection would be best to start with though. I currently have a jug of IMR 4350 I could try but I've also have heard that Retumbo is suppose to be a good powder for the 180's. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.

My guns prefer H1000 for the heavies in my 7mag, and 7STW. Also, the Alliant Reloder powders are excellent powders.

7mm RemMag Load Data..... Hope this helps.

That's what I was thinking as well with the IMR 4350 but that's the slowest I have on hand at the moment. I actually forgot about H1000. Guess I'll have to order some of both (H1000 & Retumbo) and see what it likes. It's gonna kill me not being able to take it to the range right away when it comes in but I don't want to skimp on anything just for the sake of quicker range time...

For clarification, IMR4350 will work as a powder choice in the 7RM. I would expect it to be an accurate powder. It may give up some velocity to other slower powders. That's why I stated it might be a bit too fast in burn speed.

IMR4350 is one of the powder Sierra recommends in there accuracy/hunting loads I believe.

I've also used it in my brother in law's 300 RUM with great success. Accurate and fast.

It also is the powder I use in my own 30-338 Win Mag.

It is highly probable however that slower burn rate powders will achieve more velocity in the 7RM.

As was stated earlier, H1000 is a great choice for the heavy weights, and for the 168 VLD's, about 67-68 grains will get you there quickly. Speed should be at about 2970 or so, or at least that is what mine registers very repeatedly. Another thing I want to throw out there, is that with the seven mag, you don't NECCESSARILY have to use mag primers. I have been using Winchester WLR, non magnum primers, and have enjoyed very good to excellent accuracy. And the SD, and ES are in the single digits just by going that route. Good luck in your scope search, as there are a lot of options, and considerations. Take care , and enjoy!
One other powder that is showing good promise, is the RL17. This powder will really shine with the mid weight bullets, as it has a burn rate similar to the two popular 4350 's. Make no mistake about it, 4350 is a great performer in a seven mag. It's the powder of choice with the F class shooters, and records have been broken with it. RL22 is no slouch either!!!!

SMOUSE- the 180's kicked too much for me even with a break. i use 168's , but for coues 140 berger or 140 accubond are good flat and kick less. h1000, h4831 re22 and 19. the 215 primers gave me higher veloctiy , higher pressure and higher es. i stay with one of the other mag primers. i use nosler brass. norma in my adl. enjoy

i hate to admit it, but the older i get, the less i like the heavy ones! i have migrated to the 140 combined tech ballistic tip over 4831sc, and am a happy camper!

SMOUSE- you do not say what you are shooting at. nosler manual shows i4350 most accurate with the 120. my has a sendero 7stw that accounted for 40 plus coues. all with the same box of 120 sierra fb and several pounds of 4350. you may not want to over look the lighter ones. the 140 has some great numbers.

did you adjust the trigger?? see " remington crisp".

I actually don't have the rifle yet. I just ordered it yesterday and it is suppose to arrive at the shop next week. The trigger will definitely be on the list, it'll either be tuned or a jewell will replace it. Leaning towards the Jewell though .

I plan on mostly hunting antelope and mulies. But hope to hunt some elk as well. I figured the 168s would be good for the lopes and mules since the ranges can get kinda long. 180s for elk medicine.
