Beware of your local guns shops........

I decided to run down to my local gun shop (it's a pawn /gun shop).
I checked to see if he had any AR's in stock or .223 and .308 Ammo for sale and I talked to the attendent as the owner was not there . When I asked if he had any .223's on order the attendent told me that he did "but" when they came in the owner would post them for sale on gunbroaker and other forums because what the price shows that others are listing them for . He then told me that he didnt want too list them on his shelf for what they are listed for on the net , he didnt want to do his "local customers that way" . So I thought I would share this with you all .The next time that you go to your local gun mom and pop shop and you dont see anything to purchase it may be because they are in the back of the store waiting to go on the net !

I have made it clear to just about anyone that i deal with if they try to gouge us or raise the pricing unrealistically I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN... These guys are make a ton of cash on fear.. and that just isn't right...

Its a free market economy. If people are gonna pay the price and make the demand high for them then I don't see anything wrong with it. I'd just wait till the price comes down in a year or so and get one then.

I absolutely agree it is free market economy.... I am free to shop elsewhere... If this were to happen with gas prices there would be federal investigation..

The big difference being gas is a national commodity everyone needs to have and use and a gun is a personal item we choose to buy at the price the market defines. If you want lower prices, you'll have to drop demand which isn't happening.

I don't need gas.. i could ride a bike.... or look at it the other way.. I need a gun for self protection..

we both agree. free market.. I am choosing to not to business with these gougers..

It's a two edged sword. If mom and pop sell to customer a. for $x then customer a. turns around and sells said item on net for $xx dollars then why would mom and pop not cut out middle man ie customer a. It's business, do we have to like it NO but right now there is not much we can do about it.

And tell me you have not considered for a second putting a few things up for sale at the rediculas prices they are getting on the netgun)
I still have my AR,30 round mags and more bullets(specialy .224s) than I need right now but its a battle to justify keeping them when I know what I can replace them for later......
As much as I dont like it its just good business for those makeing a liveing at it. When things settle down they aint going to sell squat=Boycot all you want,but the bottom line is I'm going to buy from the cheapest place I can find

I really don't feel sorry for the people paying high prices for ARs and stuff right now. They have had since basically 2004, when the old ban expired, to buy whatever they wanted and now nine years later there is a ruch on them. If it wasn't important to have for the last nine years then why is it so important to have right now?

I agree . I also think you all have made good points with each view . I talked to my dad about the same shop and he told me that one of our friends stopped by the pawn shop and the guy was selling 550 round bricks of 22 bullets for $110.00 My dad said that he will no longer use this shop and he has bought 2 safes 10 Nikon rifle scopes several rifles /pistols . bullets and the list goes on. Now they have lost his business and some others are leaning toward doing the same thing. If it does change and it gets back to like it was then after a while the gougers will begin to break even but when they do they will have done damage to their name actually he already has .

I have to give my local shop credit, his prices are pretty much the same as they were 3mos. ago. Case in point I bought a 5rmil spec 300wm from him two weeks ago he had it listed for $1150. which I think is the going price, I paid $950. only because I help him out around the shop free of charge a day or two a week since I'm not doing anything any way. So I'm guessing he broke even on it. But he had it priced right, he also builds and sells AR's he was selling them 3mos ago for $775. he is now getting $999. only because of how much all the parts have gone up, so I think he is being pretty fair. By the way he had about 2000 rds of 22lr today first he's had in a couple of months. And they weren't $110 a brick. Also bought 1lb of H1000, all he had $25.00 same thing I paid for it in Sep. Now if I could just find some 215 berger hybrids I might actually get to shoot that 300.

Sounds like you have a very fine place to do business!
I understand if a gun shop owner cannot get his products as cheap as he did in the past and so he is forced to pass that on to the buyer . I am all for a man making a profitt .
I have a guy at work that has bought up firearms and he has never sold guns for a living but he goes out and buys 2 DPMS AR-15's and is trying to get $1600 each . He hasnt sold em yet . I wish I could find a shop like you have in your home town . If i was treated like you are being treated then if things did go up I wouldnt mind paying a higher price to try and help that individual stay in business.

I hope it does get back to normal someday.

Our local shop is good, I think he's just kept doing business like usual, the only things over priced are things that people have brought in and consigned and some of that is stupid over priced but if I had extra AR stuff laying around I'd be hocking it in a hurry to buy some long range optics gun)

Our only store that was rediculous about price gouging ever time they though they could mark something up went tits up last year because they couldn't support the store in the winter when all they had were locals to sell to, they were also the business ALWAYS on the local radio with the buy local be local adds while trying to rape anyone who walked into the store!!
