Will federal gold medal match 308 ammo, gm308m, work good for 1000 yrd shooting? Specificly with a 26" barrel and a 1:12 twist? I want to start reloading, but im probably going to have to wait till i get a little more money to start doing that... So will this ammo stay supersonic and accurate long enough to do some 1000yd shooting?

I don't want to buy a bunch just to find out it sucks or won't work for me.

I would really like to start f-class this year but im having trouble finding ammo that will work out to 1000 yards that i can buy alot of. Everywhere is sold out of everything... except gunbroker has a ton of this on there.

The 175g load will, you are of course going to have to try it.

I don't know about the Gold Medal Match but,and I found this hard to beleive myself I had a couple boxes of the American Eagle 180gr fmj I wanted to shoot while I was trying to find some SMK's for a 308 rem 700vssf I just traded for, anyway I zeroed at 100 then shoot at 500 after a couple of corrections to get my dope I was getting about 3/4 moa with them so figured what the heck I'd try a little farther at 800 hit 6" steel 4 out of five times so the next step was 1000 not quite as good but did manage to hit 10" steel 4 times out of 10 shots. All in all I was pretty surprised. This rifle is stock except for a jewell trigger set at 1lb. and NF NXS 5.5x 22. By the way got the smk's worked up shot last Sun. Same 10'' steel 8 for 10. I think you will be good to go .

What he said.

You should be ok stability wise. But why would you buy ammo in bulk for shooting competition if you have never shot any through that rifle? Sorry man but that doesn't make sense. However, if I was competing against you I would say "Go for it". :D
Do yourself a favor and try some before you drop the money.

I want to do competitions and im looking to find a round that will work that i can practice with. Amd its only 200 rds, not 1000-2000...
Try a box or two of it and HSM both and see if either will give you sub MOA performance.

Every rifle is different and while one rifle may bug hole with a given load, the next one may be all over the place with the same ammo.

Baby steps will save you from wasting a whole lot of money.
