Down here in south texas its getting warm and sunny and my love/hate relationship with mirage has resurfaced. I commonly shoot across farmland where there is a severe lack of trees so mirage is a welcome sight on some days. I read across some things that said there were studied techniques to determining wind direction as well as value from mirage, and i was wondering if anyone could share their experience on this?

I have used mirage for reading wind with some good success. I have found it most difficult to shoot with a heavy mirage on full boil. I usually try to wait it out or change my scope power settings.
This gives a pretty good explanation:

This is my current cheat sheet for wind reading.
Notice the difference in wind speeds as stated in video. Another difficulty in learning to read mirage. Lol
