162 grain A-Max on deer size game?

Hey all,
I would love to see some pictures of the 162 grain A-Max terminal performance on deer/antelope sized game. If you dont have any pictures but have taken game with this bullet i would love to hear how they performed for you. Also, if you have taken any larger game like elk, or smaller animals such as coyotes, it would be much appreciated if you could share your experience on them also, particularly if they expanded on a coyote at long range or if they blew up on the skin of an elk at close range.

I have no first hand experiences, but I'd also like to hear how they've performed from 500 yards on out from others.

I have killed deer and yotes with every weight of amax from 6.5mm up to 30 cal. They are an awesome killer for deer sized critters and smaller. I have killed probably a dozen deer between 6 and 700 with the 6.5 140 and the 7 162 and most of them exited leaving about 2in holes. In 30 cal I have shot the 155, 168, 178 and the 208. Longest deer with these was with the 168 in my wsm just shy of 800 yds. It was buck that dressed at 215 lbs. Hit him high shoulder and he crumpled, no exit. I shoot the 208 out of that rifle now. This year I shot two deer at 685 and both bullets exited. One through the neck and one thru a shoulder and out. Neck exit was about the size of a quarter and the shoulder was about 4 inches. You don't have to worry about the amax expanding but they can be a little explosive up close.
I only have one account of the amax on elk. Good friend of mine shot a nice bull this year with the 208 out of his 300 weatherby at 335 yds. He shot him the first time in the heart quarting to and then broadside thru the lungs. Both bullets exited, bull went 10 yds.
These things kill the heck out of yotes but they are not fur friendly. The last yote I shot was with my stw at 460yds. It all but cut him in half.

Wow thanks a ton! Lots of great info there. Trust me, i dont shoot coyotes for their fur! Nice shooting also!

I have shot two antelope and one deer with them out of my 7wsm pistol. They were running around 2800fps at the muzzle. They destroyed the back half of an antelope on a broadside shot at about 350, the entrance was right at the back of the front shoulder then some crazy jfk magic bullet bouncing around and we had to trim a lot of nasty meat off of it. All three dropped within a few feet..

Riley......I can't find any of the pics I had. Sometimes my wife HELPS me move stuff to the trash I can tell you of a few results: Bear at 300+ yards with .280 Sherman 162 A-max. Bullet recovered under hide with nice expansion and decent weight retention. Three white tails, two at 300+ and one at 440 all with 140 A-max in 6.5 Sherman. All exited with large wounds.......Rich

My wife took her mule deer at 675yrds with a 308 and the 155 amax. She hit a little far back on the ribs due to a bad wind call on mine and my buddies part but that buck didn't even slow the bullet down. It left about a 2 inch exit. He went a short ways (right toward us) before he was done. I dont have pics but hope to have the hunt on youtube soon. We did get the hunt on video.
