1500+ yard calibers

As the title states, I'm looking for a good cailber to shoot 1500+ yards. I want something that has easy to find ammo and reloading components. Any suggestions?

Unclear why you are looking for both ammo and relaoding components - most folks I've met will go one way or the other. See the Reloading Equipment page for info on such tools and see the Ammo and Ammo Components page (as above) for the ammo components (for reloading).

Please provide more info as to what you're looking for (and budget) and folks can be more helpful.

My budget would be about $400 for a couple hundred rounds of reloading components. Reloading is no problem for me.

you being carrying your rifle very far? Do you plan on shooting a lot or
just a few times a month? The more info you give us the more we
can give you.

Also you might want to save some money up for components, $400

I can budget some more if needed. I plan on shooting maybe 2 or 3 times a month, just target shooting and I don't plan on having to carry my rifle very far

I am planning on getting a custom rifle build so i am starting from scratch

OK...then I'd suggest either the 338 Edge or the 375 CT. The first will probably be the best trade-off for overall cost and capability, the latter will probably be the best for pure performance (save for going to the cutting edge with something like the 375 VM2).

338 Edge - "standard" action (standard magnum bolt face) with tons of options; tons of barrels and all the bits and pieces from the rifle side to the reloading side; on the "con" side, you will not be stretching much beyond 1500 before you are looking for more performance (IMHO).

375 CT - only a few actions will accept this size cartridge, all are reasonably expensive (save for the Barker which is an excellent product and effectively dirt cheap for what you are getting); barrels need to be relatively long to get the best results which adds cost for a longer rifle case; as best I know, there are only four US sources for brass (none cheap). On the "pro" side, very hard to find a higher performance solution.

The 375 CT and others would be awesome LR Cartridges but there are others out there that you can easily shoot to 1500 yds and a little cheaper to shoot.

This guy did a video shooting his 7mm SAUM to a mile. Unfortunately the video seems to be gone.

There are a lot of cartridges that can fairly easily shoot to 1500 yds. For 1500 yard target shooting, I would probably go with a 300 WSM. Good barrel life if you don't over heat it, and fairly cheap to shoot.

Ive noticed your post in different spots.You seemed like you where looking to get to 1500 before,now past.If it is target that greatly changes the needs for energy to take game.The bigger 338 have more E and cost more to build and shoot,and are heavier.Her are some h2o capacity for you so you get feel.My 325 WSM 83,340WBY-102,338NM-108,338EDGE-110,338LA-114,338-378=137,338AX-131,338RAPTOR-153,338AM-182

You have a lot of options, all with their own pros and cons,
recoil, bbl life, cost of components, energy if you will be hunting.
Just to list a few:
6.5x284
6.5wsm
270wsm
7wsm
300 wsm or win mag
Any of the big 338's

I agree with Montana Marine a 300 wsm would fit the bill
nicely.

I am a newbie to the long range world, so what do you mean by H2O capacity?


And in addition, i am now strongly considering the 300 wsm or win mag. They are at the top of my list for calibers.

That is how many grains of h20 , each case holds.As a reference for size.Some list with a certain powder as a comparison.Ilisted so you can see case size difference.The wsm are much smaller say than the lapua.
