redding bushing die

Gday guys,
I had some problems awhile back neck sizing my new brass had to do some serious handle pushing so thought this is no good so did some searching on the highway of information and came up with removing expander ball yes alls good so I thought.
Time to trim brass run through neck sizing die go to put on pilot of trimmer and it dont fit so check pilot all good there so is the bushing to small or lack of the expander ball?
So out of curiosity grabbed some 300 ultra brass out the cuboard that I neck sized same thing pilot dont fit now this was the brass that I first had the problem with heavy press handle problems.
Im guessing expander ball but if it is may have to get bigger bushings but the bushings im using are only two sizes down from my outside neck diametre with projectile seated.
Any ideas chaps.

Give us a little more information, if you would. What caliber are you loading? What type of dies are you using? What size bushing? Were the bushings coated with Titanium Nitride or were they polished steel? Why are you trimming new brass? Neck sizing brass should require nearly no pressure. Removing the expander ball only works with uniform brass and the correct bushing. Are you by chance loading brass that has been reformed from another caliber, thickening the neck? Just some thoughts.

redding s type match,nitrate bushes 334-335 for 308win.
I had hard lift on press when squaring up necks on new brass due to the fact brass gets banged up in the bags.
Brass was remington and yes used lube when squaring necks then read remove expander ball thought I was good to go.
Loaded them and fireformed them then after cleaning then neck sizing they wont fit pilot on trimmer.
Going by your reply I think I need to get a 336 bushing and replace expander and try again.

I run a nitrate bushing on my neck die for. 308. I use Lapua brass and it measures. 338 with bullet seated in case. The bushing I use is a.336. I also use the Redding Imperial Wax.The wax seems to lube better than the other neck lubes.

Hi lone hunter,
my rem brass measures .337 may not be dead accurate only using vernier caliper not micrometer.
Are you using the expander ball, as far as lube i tried graphite,oneshot and ballistol all work with other dies rcbs,lee may have to try the imperial wax.
I will get a .336 and try again i just tried a .335 without expander ball and the case fitted on the pilot for trimmer.
I guess different brands of brass will affect size of bushing as I know my 300 ultra nosler brass is thicker in the neck than the rem brass for my 308win.
