I've been talking to cutting edge bullets about a 50 bmg bullet with the talon tip.
They said they could easily produce a bullet. But what would 50 bmg shooters want in said bullet ?
Weight wise ? I was thinking maybe 650gr for velocity if it can be made with a good BC.

a good source of information of that type would be mark king.
a top end pa gunsmith/ williamsport shooter, he also hunts with a 50.
im told there will be regularly scheduled 50 cal matches at that club soon.

My guess is anything you hit with M2ball is going to die!

Just shoot cutting edge 800 grain bullets I have been shooting them for two years now and they a awesome. They perform great very accurate and also expand on game. No need for anything else. I run mine at 27000 fps. The actual BC from field testing is .975

Any idea how the Cutting Edge compares as far as BC to the 750 AMAX and Lapua 800gr? Also, Mr Stenger, assuming you have tested the A-Max and Lapua as well, how did muzzle velocity compare between these three?

Thanks

BC is .975 which is higher. Velocity was the same if using 20n29 powder. This bullet has a bore rider which was designed for standard chambers. It's a great bullet that also expands on game. The bore rider takes care the runout that comes with most 50 brass. Give them a try jumped .025 you will be happy

I was hoping to get the secret of 27000 fps. Sounded good to me.

Jim
Thats 24 times the speed of sound. Would be a laser shooting bullet for sure!
Yep, but he came back next post and apparently it was a typo.....too bad, I hoped he knew something physists didnt. Too bad.....but I think if he did have the secret, my Macmillan action would have sent the bolt back into my cheek fast enough to do some damage......LOL
