fur friendly 7mm rem mag load?

Hi, i just got done building a 7mm rem mag hunting rifle. I killed a deer with a 150 grain nosler ballistic tip, i got him in the head (scope must have been bumped) and it removed a forth of his head. it made an antler fly about 20 yards, i couldn't find it for like an hour. I am afraid that a 140 grain nosler ballistic tip (i switched to 140) will remove a forth of the coyote too. I only have a 7mm rem mag, a 243 win, and a 257 roberts. the roberts is WAY to heavy to pack around and my father is using the 243. I'm not afraid of only taking head-shots with say an fmj if nessecary. what is the most fur friendly round you have found. Is a higher sectional density bullet better on fur? Because i know where to get really high ballistic coefficient and really high sectional density bullets. i dont want to have football sized holes in the side of them... thanks for any replies.

If that's what you're limited to...pick a full metal jacket or a solid match bullet.
The energy you're going to get, due to mass and velocity will keep it together pretty well. You may have to chase some coyotes down, but they are going to be dead, none the less.

It's a poor caliber if you're trying to save fur. No two ways around it. You can make it work, but it's still a poor choice.
Avoid head shots as the skull will cause more expansion than a rib shot.
Try and avoid the shoulders and go just behind them.
You won't ALWAYS get the quick dead drop...but if they do scamper...they're going to die pretty shortly.

You'd be better off going out and getting a cheap .17 or .22Mag than trying to save fur with that magnum.

Go with a large for the caliber less expansive bullet. Like a solid and load it down for velocity. Velocity from a light weight bullet is what you want to stay away from.

Any expirience with the Speer 110 grain TNT bullet? it seems like it would seal the deal just fine, but as i have no experience i really don't know if it will fragment or expand rapidly and only leave the tail and the head left. haha

Also should i go with a light FMJ or a heavy FMJ

Like Broz said go cheap,big, tuff and slow. even then you might have to do a little sewing but it shouldnt be that bad if you stay behind the shoulder or take them head on or straight away.
Dont use a 160 grain Nosler Partition or a 150 grain BT at full throttle! It will killem right now but it aint preaty!!

i just dont understand how im able to get tiny holes with a 243 70 grain nosler varminter going at 3500 FPS, and get gaping ones with a 7mm rem mag 140 grain nosler BT going 3100.... (i tried it, yes)

I use to shoots the 150 BT is a 7 mag. I promise the BT's will blow big holes in yotes. The poly tips are for expansion, and that is what they do.

Try the Sierra Varminter 100 gr 7mm bullet in front of 64.0 gr H4831.

Yea big like stick your head through the hole in the hide big, they do die fast though lol. If you want to turn a yote inside out like a good varmint round their the way to go

Are you sure we aint related= Asking for advice and then do just what you where told would not work anyway The 150 Noslers are going to make skinning very interesting I dont care how much you slow them down!
Must be a distant relitive though as I would only use them if Partitions where my only other choice. A leadtip would be a much better choice.

ive seen first hand what a 150 grain BT will do to a 150 pound deers skull... i would have taken pics of that. buuuttttt it was a bit of a mess... its brain was missing, its antler went flying 20 yards, an eye was gone, the other eye was hanging outside of its head, and most importantly... IT WAS AWESOME

ive got some 150 BT's already loaded, so i will take one with that. and if i get lucky ill get the other with a 175 grain FMJ.
