I got so much helpful feedback in the optics section on my "FFP or SFP" thread that I thought I would ask for some advise on stocks.

I have an original Winchester Coyote in 7wsm and want to replace the stock with prferably an HS Precision. My question is will I have to go with the "Varmint" style stock with the wider than I like forearm or can I open up the barrel channel on a sporter to fit and look right on the Coyote?
I would like to order asap as my scope will be here in 3-4 days and the stock is the last piece of the pie!

Again...... thank you for asll your help!!!

You should have no problem opening up a sporter stock to the coyote diameter. If you want to be sure, measure your barrel and let HS know which stocks you are considering. Also when you order, let them know that you have a WSM action. The M70 WSM action is longer than a standard short action and shorter than a long action.

Ok......Talked the HS today and "Donny" said the sporter would fit fine with a little barrel channel work. He also said that their SA stocks are the same as the WSM stocks. They do not make both. Anyway.......after all that I could not find a stock anywhere? They were backordered everywhere and even HS could'nt help me? So............... I ended up ordering a B&C Medalist for a sporter and will open up the barrel channel on it and see how it turns out?
By the way......called B&C also before ordering and got the response as HS.
I will post a picture as soon as I get it put together. Thanks everyone...........

Photo as promised. Took some barrel channel work to fit it in the sporter B&C Medalist but it fits like a glove and weighs 10lbs 1oz as pictured minus bipod ( scope is a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 ). About a 1/2 lb more than I was shooting for so have plans to have the barrel flutted. Thanks for everyones help..........
