Re: hodgdon superperformance

Shot a box of .243 95gr. Didn't Crono them or anything, Just sighted them in and held under MOA at 100yards. My son then put one in a 110 white tails shoulder. Broke the shoulder, blew up the spine and he dropped instantly. I was impressed

I have the new 2011 Hodgdon's annual manual and they do not have any load data with Superformance for the 308 Win. From what I read this powder "is tailored for specific applications, and number of cartridges and bullets is limited, but where it works, it really works!" They have a good right up on this powder in the manual but do state.
"Don't experiment with any cartridge that we haven't tested extensively in our lab. Only certain components combination will yield the improved ballistics we're touting for this propellant."

I read that too after I bought it. I thought it was same powder in there 165 or 178gr superperformance loads, but its not. The superperformance powder in the other calibers is special blended for each caliber. Not the same as the powder being sold. A little misleading i think.

Re: hodgdon superperformance powder 300 win mag

Maybe someone with a factory loaded round will break it down and weight the charge in the Superperformance ammo using the 180 SST in the 300 Win Mag

Sorry, won't work. They blend the powder for the factory ammo differently. I'd use h1000, rl22, rl25 in a 300 win with a 180. Retumbo is a possibility but is compressed.
