is there a good stock in the 200 dollar range

Ive got a bdl 7stw and fitted it to a lss stock a while back. I like the gun and actually like the lss stock but its developed a crack in the tang. Looks like im going to have to buck up for a new stock and dont want to break the bank.

bell and carlson carbalite stocks are the cheapest fiberglass on the market that I know of. they're about $230 for the black ones.

Usually you can get most any of the HS Precision take off stocks, like those found on the Sendero, PSS, P, 5R, LTR and VS models, in the $200-$250 range pretty easily.

I think there are several in the classified section of this forum right now. Just make sure you know what you are buying and if you aren't sure ask around on this site.

will the sendero work with a bdl barrel. I thought the bdl were a slimmer profile.

sorry but i detest thumbhole stocks and dont want anything with flashy colars. If its a laminate again it would need to be brown or green/gray. I have one of the boyd laminates on my 300 wby but dont really like the fat forearm on them either. I know im being fussy and want everything and want it cheap but if push comes to shove ill just put another lss stock on it. Another problem i have is its a detatch mag gun so ill have to inlet for the mag box so a fiberglass stock would have to have colar solid through it.

Yes, you are correct, a BDL rifle would have a slimmer contour than a Sendero.

Check E-Bay all the time. Ive bought several Remington factory stocks that were brand new take-offs for DIRT CHEAP. In fact my most recent 25-06AI is on a factory Remington BDL stock that silver and black. A whopping $71 for it!!!

I bought a used Remington LSS stock from a member who said the barrel channel had been opened up a little.I knew if it didn't fit the rifle I was buying it for,surely I had something in my safe that would.When I received the stock,I knew right away that it was opened up too much for the rifle I bought it for,so I pulled the HS stock off my 7mag Sendero and it was a perfect fit.I don't know what was used to open the channel,maybe a router,but it was very nicely done.I liked the stock better than the HS stock because those LSS stocks have more weight in the butt,giving the heavy barrel rifle much better balance.Now both my 7mag and 7STW Sendero rifles wear Remington laminated stocks.

Maybe ill try to find another lss stock or possibly a rem classic stock. I too like the lss stock. Ive got three of them on other guns. Im sure its just a fluke that this one particular one cracked.

You might call Remington and see if they will warranty the stock.Won't hurt to try and see what they say.
