Bow season is out but rifle should be a go if I do my PT part.

Ouch. I hope every thing works out as planned. I know the feeling.
I fell at work about 4 years ago now and broke my arm above the elbow in 6 places. It took almost 2 years before I could pull back my bow set at 50#.
I didn't put much wear on my rifle barrels either. Hope things work out better for you!!

my friends Dad had the same surgery and within a month he was back coyote hunting with his .243 winchester .

Sorry to hear that. Let it heal, pull out your handguns make your non affected side better. I work with a fellow just re-injured his, he'll tell you the second time is less fun than the first. Best wishes.

I did PT for 3 years before I decided on the surgery and plan on following my PT regimen to the T for a speedy recovery. Thank you all.

My wife just got cleared to go back to work after hers. She did the same thing, went to PT for years. She had the work done in Jan went back to work about 3 weeks ago. Yours looks a lot more invasive than hers was.

She only had a frayed labrum and the underside of her acromion was cleaned up a little. You had a torn rotator cuff; there are not a lot of blood vessels in tendons. Did you tear one of the 4 stabilizing muscles or a tendon?
I hope you have a speedy recovery and remember chicks dig cool scars. I think I would tell the ladies its a scar from a knife fight with some gang bangers. But thats just me:D

L:DL! Yes, I had a rotator cuff tear, tendonitis, and some bone spur taken out ... injured it a couple of times or so a few years back. I think the worst was when I slipped off the ice and try to break my fall - would have been better off falling on my arse. It was never the same then and any above the shoulder motion hurts :( ... I plan on going back to work on Monday and see how it goes.

Good luck I cant belive the diffrence it has made in the wifes ability to lift things over her head.

Boy am I lucky. 63 and never broke anything, still have all my fingers though I farm, lost most of my hair long ago, atttibutable to kids, I guess.

My wife slipped on ice, fell backwards and caught herself on her hands and broke both wrists las year. I got to play Mr. Mom and it's not fun.

I'm always very aware of where I am, what I'm doing and my footing. The older we get, the longer it takes to heal and sometimes you never heal. I lost 3 friends over the years to broken hips. All 3 never recovered and all 3 eventually died from complications.

Take your time, I'd not go back to work until I had to absolutely go back. The company I work for has short term disability for 6 months BTW.

I like the 'staple' look. Nice and straight, obviously the surgeon was a craftsman......:D

I had shoulder surgery in February. PT officially ended in May. I'm doing exercises given to me by the therapist every other day. It was my shooting shoulder to boot. Bone spurs had my rotator cuff locked up. I've got about 95% of movement back. Of all things, stick with the PT. At 63 these things are just no fun.

That's great! Thanks.

Had my shoulder surgery 7 weeks ago. 5/4/12. Torn rotator, torn bicept, bone spur and impingement. Been doing PT for 6 weeks, have at least 6 more. Working to get movement and strength back slowly. Exercise and ice every day. Can't shoot a pellet gun yet. Healing is slow at 62 years old. The sling came off permanently today. Kind of worried; have a first season limited bull tag in CO for 10/13/12. Probably can't shoot my .338 for months. Doc says I should be OK to hunt by Oct. Youngsters will have to pack out the meat again like last year.
