Rifle: Cooper Jackson Game - 25-06.
Scope: Vortex Viper PST, 4-16, MOA, FFP
Load: 120 grain sierra HPBT gameking bullets with RL22 powder loaded to Coopers' recommendations. Remington brass, Winchester Primers.

When I am shooting at 100 yds the rifle prints inside a dime and most of the time it will cover holes if I do my job. At 400 yds this rifle shoots everyhwere, plus or minus 8" from hold point. I can't figure out how a rifle that is sub a 1/2 inch at 100 yds can get so bad at 400 yds. Scope tracks perfectly when changing elevation and windage and returns to zero every time.

Any ideas why this would be occuring?

Thanks

I agree with mtbullet. To adjust the parallax, get the gun set good and solid and then move your head around, looking through the scope from different angles. When properly adjusted, the crosshair shouild not appear to move on the target, no matter how much you move your eye up and down. If the gun shoots that well at 100 yards it should also shoot well at 500. Only time I've experienced something like that when the parallax was adjusted was a 22-250 trying to shoot 80 g bergers in a 1 in 14 twist. They were good at 100 but really bad at 500, some were even tumbling. Do any of your bullet holes at the longer ranges look oblong or out of round? I've had several 25-06s and all shot the berger really well. There is a lot of brain and experience on this forum and someone will come up with something!

You are shooting the heaviest bulet for this caliber however, a 1/10 twist should handle it. I am also trying this bullet in my 25-06 a little but the 115 gr vld bergers are my go to bullet. I have not taken the bullets out to 400yds yet but it is obvious at 200 the bergers well out shine the 120gr seirras by a goodly amount. Maybe try a lighter bullet just to see how it compares. Brad
