Hey guys i finally got my savage 110 BA 338 lapua! Now i need to find out what i need for a ring height for a 56mm scope. I have replaced the big rail system with a 20 MOA base.

Thanks for any information, Eric

You should be able to get by with Medium rings and still have plenty of clearance. You might even get by with Lows. It all depends on how high your rail is relative to the reciever.

Take a ruler, lay it lengthwise down the rail and see how much clearance you need above the barrel and go from there.

i doubt a low will work with a 56. wont on mine gun)

There is no standard for base/ring measurements so it will depend on what brand/style you choose.

Does anyone have a savage 338 lapua?

I just dont want the scope a mile off the barrel.

But 1/8 inch with egw 20 MOA base and medium rings sound awesome!
Is that for sure?

Thanks, Eric

If you use Weaver 6 hole tactical high is your best bet, I had one setup with 60mm with AO and the extra highs only had about 1/4". Warne tacticals the mediums will work as will the medium TPS, Nightforce, or Burris extreme tactical.

the way i started to get my ring height is once i have my base and scope i get some quarters and stack them up till a get 1/8 gap and look in midway for the rings i need they got the # from top of base to bottom of scope tube

Here is my 338 Lapua built on a Savage target action. It has an EGW 20 moa base Burris extreme tactical medium rings and a Bushnell 6-24x50 scope. This setup has about a 1/4"- 3/8" clearance between the scope and barrel. Barrel at the receiver is 1.125"dia. with a straight tapper to .900" at the muzzle and is 32" long.
