Any idea what speed i am at with 91 gr of h1000 out of a 26" barrel?

Is a .75" group good enough at 100yds or should i keep looking for a better load?

Also, will berger make a 250 grain bullet?

Thanks

THat load should get you either side of 2750 from a 26" Maybe 2775. at altitudes of 4000 to 5000 ft. Unless you use some of the chrono's that some members on here own.:D

I would shoot that load at 300 yards and see what ya get there. In terms of MOA my 338 LM with 300 Bergers shoots tighter and more consistant at longer distances than 100 yards.

I have no use for a light bullet in a .338 so I can't help you wth the last question.

is that fast enough to shoot at 1000 yards?

i am at 1000 feet if that makes a difference...thanks

You will be a little slower at 1000 feet. But this is still plenty of speed for 1000 yards and beyond. Your bullet will probably be doing 1700 or 1800 fps and still have over 2000 lbs of energy with a 300 gr Berger.

yep your right...i just ran the numbers on a ballistic program...holy cow, the berger has a lot more energy at 1000 yards (2000) vs a 225 nosler (1100)...i am guessing a 250 would be around 1600...the berger sure does shine better then the rest...plus today I shot under a half inch 4 shot group at 100.

plus the drop of the berger isnt much less then the rest..and it passes by the nosler at 850yds

Yup, Glad to see someone else that can relate to real numbers on here.

Simple fact, for long range big bullets are a hit!! (no pun intended) :D

I will be glad to see what your 3 shot groups are at 300 yards. If it is 3/4 moa or under you should be whacking steel at 1000 with ease.

i will post results as soon as i can...by the way...that 91 of h1000 is outstanding...thanks for the advice...you seem to be always dead on with my same findings
