Im heading out in a bit to pick up a rifle, I have some choices.
I can go pick up a new tikka in 243, 7mm rem, 300 winmag for $600
used savage predator max1 260 rem for $600
used ruger markll target model in 243 for $650
used savage 10 in 308 with a tactical choate stock $650
or lastly a savage 112 bvss 22-250 with a cheap tasco scope for $600

ALL calibers interest me (except for the 308, I already have one but this one has a nice stock and I can switch calibers later)

Ive been wanting a 243, 260, 7rem, 300 win
the bvss 22-250 i was thinking of getting and changing out barrel and caliber later
Last night I made my mind up on the new tikka, but now (as usual my mind is all over the place)

If it is truly the long action 112 bvss, then that is the route I would go. Rebarrel to 260 or 300wm. What ever you want.

the guy doesnt know, he is selling it for his out of state brother. Ill see if I can get a picture of it on here to see if you can tell. The only thing I dont really like is that its a single loader

That's interesting, all 112BVSS were internal mag long action.... unless somebody converted it. The 112 is a great action to build from.

got the 112. The stock looks the same as the bvss stock.
It is a single shot which kinda sucks but no big deal and it is the long action, so the 300 rum is in its future

I havent seen a ss la savage. What is the full model #? Every ss savage Ive had has shot under .5 moa with a stock barrel and with a real barrel they will shoot with anything. Whats the model #? 2 screws? Solid floor?

Pretty sure that's a pre accutrigger model in that it isn't a stainless action (not that it matters). I have a friend with the same model, but chambered in 7 Rem Mag and it's pre accutrigger. I'm not sure when they actually changed the actions to stainless.

It just says savage 112 on the barrel, it does not have the model printed anywhere. The serial # starts with an "F"
it is a solid base on the stock and does not have a blind mag, 2 screws.
Savage must have put tasco scopes on these way back, seems like all of these I find for sale have a Tasco scope, either that or the cheap tasco was popular back then?

Just make sure the first shot counts!:D:cool:

A bit late but did you see this one >>> http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f25/fs-savage-338-wm-oregon-83976/.

Good luck and happy safe hunting/shooting.

ya I saw it yesterday. I was at cabelas yesterday also and they had this same rifle for sale there new for $550 I think. I almost walked out with it, but Im glad now that I bought the 112, but the stainless action on that 116 looked bigger and better to me...I dont know.
Im not really interested in a 338 win mag, but a 338 ultra does interest me...maybe next time
