Best .35 cal bullet for longer range?

This probably seems like an odd question, as I am sure not many people shoot .358 at long range, but I picked up a 358/300 Win mag this year and am trying to decide where to go bullet wise. The hope is to find something with a G1 BC of .400 or higher that I can drive about 3k fps. Rifle has a 26" barrel and seems to shoot very well, so hopefully this won't be an issue. Should be about the ultimate hammer for any game in the lower 48 within 500yds.

The Nosler 225 Accubond (BC=0.421) @ 3,000 fps will get you to 600 yds and beyond. There isn't a lot else that I'm aware of that's suitable for any farther than that bullet. Even the specialty bullet producers haven't, for the most part, found that caliber yet.

The 225 ab is the bullet I am using in my 358-378 wby. At over 3400 fps in this rifle it is a serious elk slayer to 1/2 mile and further if needed. You will top out very near or may hit 3000 fps with the 358-300 winchester. It would be a very good hunting rifle with this bullet. Not a top performer at long range though but would have the power to do so on a calm day. Into the half mile category anyway.

i know Cutting Edge makes long range 358 bullets, Bruce Baer has a 358 chey tac that is quite impressive. i would think the accubond would be a better choice with the case you have.

Sshhh Dave, that was a secret. 14 MOA to 1k and .5 or less groups is not impressive.

.358 diameter bullets are a curious subject on a long range Forum. I dont think you will find any bullets that are suitable. Depending on availability I would choose a 225 gr. bullet such as a Sierra 225 SBT and compensate for a low BC with velocity as much as possible. Nothing bad about the cartridge, just extremely poor bullet choices available for LR hunting.

I'm going to order a box of 225 Accubonds and see how they shoot. The load I am shooting now is 77gr IMR 4350 under a 250gr Hornady RN, shoots about 1/2 MOA if you do your part, recoil is alittle stiff. 250s are just alittle much bullet for deer around here IMO.
