I drew a cow tag in new mexico this year and had a great hunt, my friend and brother and me all three shot cows. After the packout was over we talked to a game ranger and was told next year there would be no cow tags in the draw for non-resident hunters. Does anyone know of a land owner that offers cow tags ? HELP PLEASE.

I believe that I read that you can choose the option to have a refundable hunting license and if you don't draw then you can have the huntIng license money refunded to you. I will post the paragraph on here later.

I stand corrected, Paragraph 7, page 4 of the above referenced link.

Thanks
Dave

Vermejo Park Ranch for cow tags. 588,000 private acres that Ray Charles could shoot an elk on.

These guys (Vermejo) will sell you a LO tag. Seriously dude??? I've been on hundreds of guided hunts around the world and NEVER had anyone hold my hand or tell me when or what to shoot. What a crappy response to give someone that was trying to help you. I was a guide in NM and AZ for 15 years...have fun on your quest

I read your post...I know you're looking for a LO TAG...those tags at Vermejo are the best in NM for only a few hundred dollars maybe 500.00.

Are you seriously looking for tag? Or blowing smoke? I wouldn't give Garth Carter a squirt of **** for his tags. If you want a tag I can get you great tags. I know a lot of ranchers in NM. I've personally killed 16 big bulls. My wife just killed a huge bull last week.

I am looking for LO tags for next year? my Buddy's are not willing to pay the extra for the bull tags. I my self would love a bull tag but haven't been able to put in for a bull tag because of them. so i am looking for maybe up to 6 cow tags. I don't really know the rules on LO tags can you hunt bulls and cows in the same time frame? if so I would want the bull tag and let them hunt for the cows. I have hunted in units 36,51,52 and have loved every one of them but willing to go where ever to hunt elk. any help Horn porn would be greatly appreciated. :)

You will have to get with the LO to find out what tags they have. They can have cow and bull tags both and may let you hunt them at the same time. Some ranches have ranch only tags and some have unit wide tags. You can also look at the NM G&F website to see the regs. and look for ranches to contact in the area you want to go into. NMDGF The other thing that changed is all WLMA's (wildlife management areas) appear to be resident only in the draw.

I'm blessed to spend about 4 1/2 months guiding fisherman on the Vermejo Park Ranch each summer.
The price of a voucher to hunt cow elk on the ranch was 600.00 in 2011. It's not too early to get on the list for 2012 because the number of vouchers could change for next year. I can also tell you a ton of people rebook each year for the following year.
In my opinion it's worth 600.00 just to hunt the ranch for 4 days and see the country and it's wildlife. If you've not been there it's a amazing piece of ground, but then again I'm biased about the ranch, and the people I work with there.
Oh, and there are a ton of elk on the ranch.
Good luck.
