LA round in short action - mill out port?

I mean, just a slot so that you can eject loaded roads.

In this case I am talking about 6.5-284 in a remington short action.
I would need to mill about a quarter inch slot in the front side of the port so that a loaded round will clear.

There are a few custom actions on the market that come this way, but I wonder if anyone can tell me just how much metal you can remove?

I might be wrong but I think that round will work at a repeter in a SA. If not then make it a single shot no milling or sloting needed.

Depending on you OAL, trimming your bolt stop may help. Check Kevin Wyatt's web site. If your rounds will fit in one off his box mags, then see what bolt stop, ejection port mods go along with that box mag.

If the rifle will eject a fired case leave the action alone.

Load single and if you don't fire it release the bolt stop and remove the round.

I have a 30/338 on a short action and this works fine.

You might get away with milling your reciever. But, it won't help the resale value.

I'd buy/trade for a long action or do as others have already suggested.
