Hello guys, I just want to clear up the questions about the rifles used on Extreme Outer Limits show. Yes, McMillan is the presenting sponsor, and you guys are sharp, the rifles used in the first season are not McMillans. They were built by McWhorters and obviously are very fine rifles, to be able to do what Bob has done with them shows how ell they are made. Next season will feature McMillan rifles. I can't really comment on the above comment, I have not heard that from the guys at McWhorters.
The EOL line of rifles are different from our standard rifles in that with the exception of the .338 Lapua all has custom chambers made specifically to shoot Berger bullets. The chamber reamers were designed so we could seat the bullets on the lands and still get them to feed from our magazines and eject a loaded round. We are using 7, 300, 30-378 all labeled EOL to distinguish them from the standard sammi spec reamers used on the Ultras and the Weatherby mag.
For how they shoot, I have always been proud of the rifles we build, but Bob has been able to get these rifles to do things I didn't think was possible. He's a dedicated shooter and hunter and has a real Mack for tuning ammo to a rifle. We were extremely happy to find yesterday that the ammo he developed for the first 7mm EOL mag short exactly the same in the second rifle. Being able to develop a load that will shoot equally as accurately in each rifle sold is a great bonus.
Just one last thing, McWhorters has been a good customer of McMillan and when we were considering joining EOL we called them and discussed it. I don't get involved in customers or competitors business so I can't say why the change was made to McMillan, but I will tell you it had nothing to do with the quality of the rifles provided by McWhorters.
