Yes I'm the new guy.. home is west Louisiana but in Iraq for 6 more months... before I get home want a few toys.. so have several question on hunting scopes looking for a mid range 4X16X50.. like the sound of Vortex HS.. but open for suggestions..

Welcome to the site worm. You didn't say what your budget is. We would also need to know what caliber rifle you would like the scope to go on. That would help to put you on the best scope for the money. Would it be for long range hunting or for distances under 500 yds.? Fill us in.

I'm considering 25-06 for smaller game hunting and yes the distance would be under 500 yards.. price??? 500-700 dollar range.

Is that budget amount just for the scope or are you trying to include the rifle into that?

For that price you could get a Leupold, or Vortex. Redfield is an old reliable that is back in business under new ownership of leupold and it's partner. They were dependable and priced right. That's just a few I would put on my gear if it were mine. There will be a lot more suggestions as soon as everyone else views your post. So get all inputs from the rest of the crew here before making a choice. There are a lot more and price increases with performance.
