Ross Schuler muzzle brake

Anyone have an experience with Ross Schuler Brake? Looking on ebay just messing around and he had them for $48. Looks like a pretty good brake.

I got 4 or 5 of them and they are a good for the price.

I have two of them, both on Specialty Pistols, a 7mm WSM and a 30X8mm Rem Mag. They are VERY effective, and both are scary accurate, which to me means that the machine work on the brakes is superb. The last one arrived in 4 days after I ordered it, would not hesitate to buy another.

I got one on my 7RM and it works very well. I would never pay 100+ for one when you can get this one for 50.

Ross is a good friend of mine (I was just hunting with him 2 days ago). He and I started building our own guns together 15+ years ago and we tried tons of different muzzlebrakes over the years. About 2-3 years ago he started doing the ported brakes and kept telling me to try them. I haven't been shooting or building many guns lately but we put one on my .338 BAER that I had a standard drilled hole muzzlebrake on. I was amazed at how much better it reduced the recoil. The concussion is definately higher as well as the noise because of how the ports are angled back and larger but the recoil reduction is amazing. It's also nice that it doesn't blow dirt up off the ground when shooting from a bipod. It's almost the same brake as a Holland at less than 1/3 the price. He doesn't build them to get rich. He just does it for something to do because he is retired.

I've used two of his brakes and both produced impressive recoil reduction and accuracy. Would definitely use one again.

Ross's brake is one of the best deals going for a brake that reduces recoil better than most. I have installed a lot of them on customers rifles and Specialty pistols

There are very few that are not made from solid stock. In fact, I don't think that I have heard of one made from a casting.

IIRC Ross is doing this as a retirement sideline.

He does great work. Brakes made to order and usually shipped same or next day.

Actually a lot of the cheap one's are cast and require considerable machining to get them properly fitted.

For a brake in this price range to be machined is totally uncommon.

In the pictures I've seen of them they look machined but it's hard to tell for sure which is why I asked.

I may well have to give one a try.

They're CNC machined. And Ross can taper it down to match your barrel diameter. Or you can send him your barrel (no actions) and he can thread the barrel and install the brake.
