I am impressed with the power of the 260. I have never owned this caliber, and always looked at it as a little paper puncher caliber. This video surprised me on how much thump that puny little paper puncher actually carries.

Great round but not what I have in mind for a long rangehunting rifle, look at the energy at 1000 yards compared to the big 7's , 300's and 338's If a guy wanted a long range deer rifle I think it is s nice fit but for a do all round for Elk,bear, moose I'll pass every time. The bigger rounds are just alot more capable in so many ways.

your right on the money with that quote... the 260 is for some LR varmints/predators and steel... my 338LM will be for the killing, and my new 7SAUM should be a hammer as well.

While I generally agree that bigger is better, don't disparage the 260 too much. Run the ballistics of the 130grain JLK (G1 BC = .593) going 3000fps and you will see that it carries sufficient energy to kill deer at 900 yards. Would I rather shoot my 300RUM at that range, yes. But the 260 could do it too.

Great video by the way.

completely agree with that as well... but in my case i'm only pushin the 139's about 2733...

130bergers @ 2984 when you put it through the pumphouse no matter how big the animal is dead is dead.

You should be able to get them going faster than that. Are you using H4350?
ya i'm using H4350... tried to shoot the 139's @ a higher velocity but not nearly as good accuracy results as the load i developed... 2733 is fine for me as long as i'm getting .25 MOA, i'm more concerned with accuracy, and i'll get a few more rounds out of the Shilen Ultramatch...

Great video! Those are 139 Lapua's that you're shooting?
yep 139 scenars
