brass selection

im trying to decide what brand of brass to use for my next rifle project...the gun is a rem 700 cdl in 264 win mag ss fluted. what im wondering is should i use nosler or winchester brass. is there a huge difference in the quality of these two? should i buy brand new or 1x fired..this is a hunting rifle and maximum accuracy is desired..ive got a huskemaw scope and am still in the process of breaking in the barrel. i think i will start with accubonds and or bergers

Nosler brass is very good but since it's ridiculously expensive, I don't buy it unless it's available as seconds. I would be using Remington or Winchester brass if buying new and if possible I'd be looking for once fired brass.

I do use Norma brass for some high pressure loads in certain cartridges since case life is quite a bit better than other brands I've tried.

I'm using the Nosler brass as it was the only kind available to me with the correct head stamp at the time. One box was one short and both boxes had 1 or 2 with damaged case heads. I think I ended up with about 96 usable rounds all totaled. I did not weight them though to see how close they were in weight as the way I looked at it Beggars cannot be Choosers. It was all I could find at the time. Spendy and really no better.

I would recomend the Winchester brass for one reason, you can buy loaded ammo in 264 and that makes it simple.

If you want premium brass the Norma brass is hard to beat.

The fact that Nosler brass is actually Federal brass leaves it in last place for me.

I use a lot of Remington brass and have good luck with it, But I don't know how available it is in
264 Win.

Just my opinion.

I'd say winchester made 7mm rem mag brass, then just run it through your full length resizing die! Remingtom made the 7mm by necking up 264win mag, using 7mmRM it'll save you time finding it and cost less. lightbulb
