I have a new 700RUM sendero and purchased a 20 MOA picatinny rail with medium height burris extream tactical rings.

I am using a zeiss 6 x 20 x50 conquest and with everything mounted, the distance from the barrel to the bottom of the scope is 1/2". It seems execessive and I am worried how accurate it will be with the 1/2" gap? I am use to 1/16" to 1/8" gaps for accuracey. This is the first time I have used a system like this.

I dont know how much lower the "low" rings may bring it down but Idon't expect much looking at how these rings are made.

I want to be able to shoot to 1K and need to know if this set-up is ok. My others guns shoot to 1K but are allot closer to the barrel.

Thanks for your help!

The gap between your barrel and scope will have no affect on accuracy. What it will affect is how much 'down' you have in your scope. It might be mounted so high that you can't adjust it down to a 100 yard zero.

To determine how much lower the 'low' rings will bring you down, call Burris and ask them the height difference between the two.

If your rings are new Burris will exchange them for the ones you want and ship them back to you for free. They have done that for me a couple of times. THAT is customer service.
