Has anyone heard of or seen "Streightjacket" by TTI?

There is a guy in our club that had his .308 transformed with this system and swears by it.

He told me it dissipates the heat away from the barrel even if you shoot many rounds in a row. It also eliminates the harmonics of the barrel. It is supposed to improve the life and accuracy.

Looks like it is an interesting concept if it really works.

I read about this system a while ago in Shooting Times or Rifle Shooter and I was super interested in the concept. The thing I've wondered is does the system actually keep your barrel cooler longer, or does it just provide an insulating layer so that the outside of the barrel remains cool to the touch but the inside of the barrel gets way hot?

One thing I do know is that I've never heard anything but good things about the system. I think the article even mentioned that the guy put a straight jacket system on a 7 mag that already had 3000 rounds down the tube and it went back to being an impressive shooter again.

If I had a few extra bills rolling around I'd love to try it out. Maybe someone else can give us some first hand experience.

From what I was told is that it takes the heat away from your barrel so it never gets hot. He also told me that they turn down your barrel so they can get the sleeve around it and have enough room to fill the space with the secret material which eliminates the harmonics and also put a brake on the end also for around $450 I think.

I did not know you could not turn a hammer forged barrel. ???

The sleeve that is around the original barrel looked larger in diameter then a 12 gauge shot gun barrel. I would imagine they would take the taper out of the original, but that is only my guess.

The guy that has one in our club had a Rem. 700 done to his with a 20" barrel in .308 and shoots at 1000 yds. off of a sand bag and does fairly well with it at that distance with out a rear bag.

Precisely what I meant; you can't. Any turning done to recontour or alter a hammer forged virtually destoys it. I've seen two or three attempts made on barrels that were good shooters before, and absolute garbage after that.

The contour of a hammer forged barrel should be whatever the factory put on, and shouldn't be changed.

So in the end you have a $600 factory barrel that MIGHT shoot? The bore scope footage of most factory barrels would make me a little weary of spending $450 on a barrel tuning device. No matter how great the sleeve you still have factory quality work on the chamber and rifling. I didn't notice any claims of how they quantify the amount they will improve your accuracy or give you a refund? This screams of another idea that might work great sometimes but you MAY also spend a bunch of money and be left with nothing. If you spend $600 on a known good barrel and a smith to fit/chamber it I would bet that 90% of the time you get a 1/2 MOA gun. With this system what percentage of the time do you get a gun that shoots under 1/2 MOA?
