Has anyone used the 210 Berger 30 cal in a 300 Wby?

I use to shoot the 190 Berger VLD's in my 300 Wby using H-4831. I would give that a try with the 210's and also H-1000. I use H-1000 now in my 300 Win with 210 Bergers and it is very accurate.

Hope this helps

Jeff

Do you seat them out at the lands as Berger recommends?

You will not be able to get there with the Wby freebore unless you single shot them. And even then it would be a stretch. So my standard starting point with Bergers in my Wby's is to load them .020" shorter than the mag box. I have done this with 300's, .257's 30-378's and others with great resuls.

Thanks Jeff. You might be interested to know, I sent a message to Bryan Litz at Berger. Basically, I was asking him if it was possible to load the VLD's in a Wby. He sent me the link below. You may have seen it already, but if not, you may find it helpful as well. I was very impressed with the speed with which Bryan responded to my question. I received the answer at 7:45 AM central time. If he's in California, that means he sent it at 5:45 AM. I hope my rifles shoot Berger's well, because that is exceptional "potential" customer service.

I have loaded Retumbo(84gr.) and Hybrid 100(72gr.) in my rifle. Without pushing it too much the speeds were pretty close 2950 and 2920. The Hybrid 100 loaded to magazine length has shot the only group that ever bettered the factory target of .310"
Longer loading lengths did not group quite as well. With a 12gr. heavier powder charge there was a noticeable increase in recoil with Retumbo.

Yes I have read this. In wanting to keep the use of the mag boxes, this is why I said the -.020" is my starting point. I then will shorten the oal in .005" increments and look for gains. Most of the time the .020" short of mag box is good to go. I feel this is due to the fact that at this point you are already .180" off the lands. At least that is where my Accumark 30-378 was.

I had two 30-378's , one factory and one custom 30" rifle. Both had factory freebore and both shot this AOL good and were under 1 moa at 1000 yards.

Thanks

Jeff
