Is there anything out there that has a .532 case head, can be loaded to 3.58'' or less, and can give 1,000 ft lbs @ 1,800 fps @ 1,500 yards? I'm not asking for much am I?...

Yeah good luck with that! Your looking into 338-378wby imp maybe more likely 338x408 Cheytac.

With those dimensions, impossible!..........Rich

Yeah, I've been researching it for about a week now and haven't come up with anything. Just thought I'd check, to make sure I wasn't missing something. The closest I came was a long shot (no pun intended) 375 Ruger necked down to 7mm, with a 180gr Berger. That was all just speculation tho'. I think I could get a 7mm Wby out to about 1,200 yards. Maybe.

You'll need a 7mm wby match chamber (short throat) I doubt you'd have much luck with .360" freebore and 180 bergers!

What about ( and this would be a lot of money, work and short case life) a 7mm/375 ruger ackley improved with the 180 gr bergers or heaviest matrix ( I think its a 190 or something gr) bullet? In a hot load should send the 180's to 3300fps. Man that would cost a lot for a reamer, custom dies and all! Try it and let us know!

What about a 284 jazz or 338 norma mag,it's not a .532 bolt face but it will meet your oal requirements.

Well I was just trying to see how much power you can wring out of a standard length magnum action, because I have one.

It has been a very interesting study though. I can't believe I can get more down range power out of the short 7mm Wby than I can a 300 WM or 300 Wby. Now that's contingent on being able to get 3100 fps out of a 180 gr Berger. I think that's do-able in a 26 or 28 inch barrel. I think I'm just gonna keep it a 1000 yard gun. That 7mm sure is interesting tho', the case has a nice long neck. I may have to try it.

Yeah, I really don't have enough experience reloading Bergers to know how hard you can push them. With that nice long neck on the Wby case, I'd like to keep the bullet out of the powder, so I'd just have to see where that would put the ogive. I know Berger recommends seating them right out at the lands, but I don't know what that would do to velocity. Like I say I'd be looking for 3100 fps, if I couldn't get at least 3050 fps, the whole thing would be a waist of time and money. I would just be duplicating the ballistics I'm getting now in 300 Wby.

Do I search on here for the .338sin. That is the most power you will wring out of that action. Paired with a long barrel you will come close to what you are looking for.

Outstanding! This looks like just what I'm looking for, and bonus, someone else did the hard part.
