I am ready for a new trigger on my rem 700. 300rum 5.5x22 nf
What brand and mod. do you recommend.I like the sound of a set trigger but I do plan on hunting big game with it .[elk, sheep, goats and maybe a grezz ]
Get me started if you would please.

Start with a Jewell !

They are the best.

There are other good triggers but the Jewell will exceed all of your expectations.

I have several Jewels and they are very good. I recently put a Rifle Basix LV1 on a Rem 700 shot in competition, and like it a lot. It adjusts down to 2 oz, but for a hunting rifle, you do not want something that light. A trigger in the 2-6 lb. class would be about right for you.

Jewell HVR top safety @ about 20 ozs plus in most cases you can adjust the pull weight with no disassembly .

Amen ... on the Jewell triggers. At last count I was using 14 of them and have been for the past 15 years. Everything in the safe is set at 6 oz's, never a failure and a major component in accuracy for me. No comparison with others that have attempted to "reinvent the wheel" with the latest and greatest trigger system.

Take a look at Jewell's Two Stage triggers. They'll give you the added safety of the heavier trigger while providing the lighter pull of a set trigger, no problem. Don't know if you've ever used two stage triggers before, but most folks who've taken the time to adapt to them won't even think of using single stage triggers afterwards.

How much better will a stock trigger be with a Holland or other brand spring kit installed ? I have had all my factory Rems adjusted down to 2.5 lbs and they seem just fine. I bought my first jewell a month or so ago and really like it on my comp rifle....however, I don't know that I would like the narrow trigger spur on a hunting rifle.
