The CZ Ultimate Hunting Rifle (UHR) is a new CZ 550 based rifle in .300 Winchester Magnum that comes in under 8 lbs, and includes a minute of angle accuracy guarantee to 1000 yards. By maintaining quality control standards unheard of in the industry, the Ultimate Hunting Rifle delivers a level of accuracy formerly only available from high-end custom riflesmiths.

The UHR package includes the rifle with the barrel broke in, a boresighted 5.5-22 x 50 Nightforce scope featuring the R2 reticle mounted on 1 piece rings and an aluminum hard case.

CZ-USA does not endorse irresponsible, extreme long-range hunting. When combined with practice, premium ammunition and optics, the UHR is intended to extend the range of the ethical hunter by 250 yards.

MSRP: $3450

Sounds like it may be a low cost way to get in the game. As for the 1000 yard guarantee, it seems that would be pretty difficult to determine. Conditions and shooter skill are just too big a factor at that range. I predict they will get perfectly fine rifles returned because they will not "hold 1 moa at 1000". Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the marketing or the rifle...... it will just be interesting to see how this works out in the real world.

The 2011 cataloge says it will hold MOA to 600 yards and weighs 8 pounds.

The rifle its self is 1275 with wood stock and 1402 with kevlar according to the 2011 catalog. They are great rifles just added the prices so you could weigh it agnist the cost of the NSX. The trigger is an SST single set trigger.

The write up in the catalog suggest that they did load workup with DRT 200g jacketed frangible ammo. It also says that the 165g SST works well. Their is no mention of the NSX being included in any sort package deal.

Again CZ are great rifles in my opnion the only hold up for me to compaire this to say a sendero would be the fact that it only has a 24" barrel.

I also remember seeing this on a hunting show back in 2005 pre production

As stated previously there are too many variables involved to be able to validate this. Even on this site there are very few people that are capable skill wise or have the proper equipment to be able to evaluate a rifle such as this. Good marketing is all this is plus paying a premium for the claim.

Like a famous man once said "There is a sucker born every minute"..

There will be enough limitations and conditions on that 1 moa accuracy garantee that it will really be meaningless if you get a rifle that will not shoot to this level of accuracy and you try to get it replaced.

Sounds alright but remember what they are saying, most of us know that in probably 50% of the shooting conditions we shoot in, 1 moa would be pretty good consistancy with the best full custom rifles at 1000 yards. To garantee this in a factory rifle falls into one of those Sounds to good to be true things and it likely is.

What does that mean anyway, is it for three shots, five shots, or first shot will impact within 1 moa of your point of aim? As I said, alot of things left out that they could use to deny a replacement rifle but it sounds good.

In all honesty, you could get a Rem 700 Sendero or one of the heavier Savage rifles and with tuned handloads would likely get the same level of consistancy.

Its the conditions, just as much as the rifle quality that will limit your 1000 yard group size.

Kirby-----You are so right! If you learn to read condition the wind is your friend in competition! The wind is never your friend while you are hunting unless it is not blowing LOL!!!!!!!

I am not a competitive shooter so the wind has never been much of a friend to me even though we always seem to hang out together here on the east slope of the rockies!!:D

Take away $1500 for the NXS and you're left with $1,950. I can build a pretty nice semi-custom rifle for that kind of money.

I fully understand but I'm having a hard time on their 1 MOA accuracy guarantee up to 1000 yards. Most manufacturers or gunsmiths that guarantee are 3 to 5 shots 1 MOA or less at 100 yards.

Anyways I e-mailed them shortly after I posted this ...

On your Feb press release, the claim for your CZ 550 UHR is a MOA accuracy guarantee up to 1000 yards. However, on your catalog it only shows for 600 yards. Please explain and elaborate your test conditions to warrant your claim and confidence in your guarantee. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
No response thus far. :rolleyes::D:)

I agree with all the responses on what it takes to make the shot.
