My new Remington R15 appears to not have a chrome lined barrel nor chamber, and the inside of the bolt carrier, does not ether, I shot this rifle last weekend, and did not clean it. Got it out again the next day, to shoot it again, and it was jam city, until I cleaned it, after that, it was perfect. It eats hornady factory ammo all day long, but you can forget about steel case Russian crap. It will not feed it, without jamming. It don't matter how clean the rifle is, it appears to only like brass case ammo. Anyone else seen this.

Not to call you out but are you sure your cleaning it right?

No upper reciver that I have ever seen has been chrome lined. Also you dont need a chrome lined bore and chamber on a hunting rifle and thats what you have a hunting rifle.

On the jamming issue. I have never seen a rifle that will not feed wolf ammo. Your upper reciver should start clean and be dunked in oil before shooting. GO right ahead and lube the hell out of the BCG with some CLP, Slip 2000, miltech etc a wet AR is a happy AR.

I have been shooting AR type rifles since August of 1981, Thats when i joined the U S Army, so Yea, i know how to clean a AR 15, I have a Bushmaster XM 15, and it has the chrome lining in the chamber, and in the bolt carrier, So the only thing i can think of is, Like you said, it is a hunting rifle, and thats the way it's built.

Some one told me today that the rifle is for 223 Remington ammo only and that i should not shoot NATO 5.56. I looked at the top end of the barrel and sure enough it says 223 REM.
Also i have never had a problem with shooting steel case ammo, in any of my AR's
COLT, Bushmaster, But this Remington R15 Will Not Feed it. No matter what, Especially Wolf.

And i read on another forum that this rifle is made by Bushmaster.

Just read a article on the Bushmaster site that some of their rifles have 4150 Chromoly Vanadium Steel. so they will not be chrome lined.

Icanhithimman, you said you never seen a upper of a AR-15 that was chrome lined????

Yep I said that. Never seen an upper that was chrome lined in my life. Barrels and chambers are another story.

As for the 223 rem/ 5.56 thing I would not worry about it. Think of it like this have you ever seen 5.56 dies for sale?

5.56 has to operate in a broad range of weapons plaftorms under conditions that the avarage guy will never put their weapon through. Thus the chamber is a bit looser and the pressue at which the ammo is loded to is much higher.

Remington is owned by the cerbuis group they own lots of stuff to say the least remington, bushmaster, AAC just to name a few. I hate them lol

I have never seen a upper that was chrome lined ether, thats why i asked you after the fact, since you mentioned it. I like chrome chambers, it makes for easy extractions, especially on surplus steel case ammo. I have heard all the debates and BS on the 223, and 5.56, the should and the shouldn'ts, and i still fire all of it in my ar's, and nothing has blown up yet. But it is strange this rifle will not feed steel case ammo, it could be an extraction issue?

could be alot of things. You have a few choices, stop shooting wolf ammo upgrade your extractor to the crane or replace bolt or whole bcg with better model like BCM and then you could mess with the spring and buffer weights.

I suppose there could be an issue with 5.56 ammo in a 223 if the chamber was out of spec and it caused excesive pressure. Could brake the bolt but I have never seen it happen.

Who knows,,,,,, Maybe i should not shoot cheap ammo in this rifle anyway, it will shoot 1/4 inch groups at 100yrds with hornady 55 gr v max, and i did buy it for varmint hunting anyway, i can go plinking with the cheap ammo with my Bushmaster XM 15, M4. that rifle will fire anything.

I don't know why anyone would ever put steel case ammo in any AR. Wait 'till you stick a laquer coated case in your hot chamber and have to take it to a smith to get it out!

Wolf is dirty nasty stuff, their is plenty of ammo that is almost as cheap that's way cleaner for your AR. AR's have enough problems with the delicate gas system, why add to the problem?

My ARs are precision intruments, I feed them precision ammo. They love me.

AK is not a precision instrument, feed it junk and it will love you.

I do agree with you on that, I shouldn't be shooting trash in the R 15 anyway, but my m4 will eat anything, and it has a chrome lined chamber, and I do keep it clean. Some of this new wolf ammo doesn't have laqure coatlngs, but some kind of powder coating. I remember some of the Chinese 7.62x39 was layered in shitloads of laqure. Nasty stuff.

I did a little self test a few years back with a cheep *** rifle i put togher from parts and wolf ammo. Long story short it went 2300 rounds before it started to choke the only thing I did was add CLP. It shocked the hell out of me cause all you ever hear is its junk.

AK74s can hold their own agins the M4 from what I have seen

The AK47 is considered the #1 assault rifle in the world, with the M 16 being second, I own two AKs. And they can surely take a beating, but they don't have the accuracy of the M 16. I have mixed feelings on the cheap east European, and Russian steel case ammo, I guess as long as you clean your rifle after shooting it, you should be all right.

What type of AKs I had a century what a ***! I have shot a few Arsenal guns WOW! I have one on the bench now thats a american made receiver and Mossberg barrel but I haven't shot it.

Also the AKm 74 is much more consistent than the AKM 47

I have a Norinco, bought it back in 92, or 93, i cant remember, i also have a GP 75, I think that one is a century, they both shoot great, no trouble out of them. I have owned several AK's over the years.
