Cheap Chrono question / suggestion

I currently have an Oehler 35 Chrono that I love. I use it for all my long range load workups. Only issue is that it takes some time to setup correctly. For testing of handgun and tactical rifle loads I would like something faster to setup and easier to carry. Is there a good quality (accurate) Chrono that is easy to setup (Tripod). was thinking maybe an Shooting Chrony?

Not really, unless you use a indoor range or have something that is pre-assembled so when you get to a range you simply stand it up, but it still takes some time to get everything centered. There are those occasions when you get everything almost perfect on the first try..

Ya go with the chrony then if further testing is necessary set up the big machine...

I really like my Shooting Chrony Beta for under 100$. Except when I leave it on and the battery connected. Always carry a spare battery!

If you have absolute confidence in your current chrony I would go ahead and buy a cheaper model that is easy to set up. When you get your new chrony I would set it up back to back with your old one and compare the 2 velocities. If they are the same or to your satisfaction you should be good to go. I have one of the cheaper chrony's and after using the velocities it gave me and then going out to verify my created drop chart I could not get things to match. Checked my chrony out with a friends - sent it back - they recalibrated it for me and now life is good.

for the huge sum of $102 you can but the basic Pact chronograph. Pretty much the same as the older PC2, but with a few less doo dads. I'd go ahead and buy the light bar bracket for $25. This bracket is made to fit a camera tripod, and setup is very fast. Pacts carry a life time warranty and are also made in the USA. But if it were me I'd buy the PC2, as it does much more.
