Personally I would buy a youth rem 700 in 243. Loaded light with 95 gr gamekings and be able to shoot any deer. Plus when he gets older and can handle a longer gun, slap on a full sized stock. Plus can build off of it when he gets into it!
Just my .02!

I would recommend the Model 7 youth, because when he grows (He will) it is easy to find a
stock with the standard length of pull.

Also any other aftermarket parts are easy to find. (Triggers, scope basses, ETC).

I would also recommend a 243, 260 or 7/08.

Just a recommendation.

I agree model 7 (260 rem managed recoil loads). Disabled wife shoots this and just knocks them down out to 175 yards. Easier to up size stock later.

Both are excellent choices, I have used both. The browning really shines in this little package, not a lot of browing fans around I know but put a decent stock on one, the trigger is good and my 243 wssm holds 1/2 MOA with the game kings. A couse, mulie and multiple javalina to its credit.

That being said been looking for a bit bigger build myself and really looking at the 7-08 for moving up to elk and longer range mulies. I have looked at the Weatherby youth and remington models as well. Leaning towards a Weatherby build right now, cost is right, stock is adjustable.

Good luck with the choices.

Thanks for the help guys ,a friend of ours has the 7 in
Stainless barrel and plastic stock a super nice little rifle,
I think they have quit making the stainless version?
We also have been looking at the mountain LSS 700 in stainless
A sharp looking little rifle but I wonder if the LOP is longer
Than the 7 or micro?
