Both offer a 3 groove in a 1:11 twist for .308 cal. I am going to order one and wonder which of the two I should go with. I am shooting Berger 210's in a 300WSM. This will be my first custom barrel purchase. Price should be very similar.

What's the difference between a standard match and a super match grade barrel from Pac Nor? Is it worth the extra money for the super match?

Sweet, thanks guys! I like the experience that is answering this question.

Thanks,

Tank

I can't speak to Pac-Nor but I have had three Lilja 3 groovers. I currently have one on my 6.5 and it shoots very well. One thing about Lilja, they only make ONE grade. Good luck/Rich
p.s. Given any more thought to bullet making?

I have barrels from both. Of all the handlapped barrels I own, the PacNor was by FAR the easiest to break in and keep clean for whatever reason. I have several Liljas and recommended them to a buddy who just built a custom 270 and 300 SAUM. My brother chose the PacNor for his 270.

There's been a lot of good feedback on Rock Creek's 30 cal 5R cut rifled barrels in 11 twist and this will be the brand I go with next unless I change my mind.

Dan Lilja builds some of the best, most consistent barrels made. I can recommend his barrels with 100% confidence. Never used a Pac-Nor so cant comment. I know from numerous conversations with Kirby that he is big on Lilja barrels as well.

Just to make your decision a little more difficult - I recently had a Broughton 5C, 11 twist barrel put on my .308. In addition to the accuracy of this barrel it is said that the canted rifling profile makes for a faster barrel that is also easier to clean.

Just another interesting option in your search for the "best" custom barrel for your .308. :)

Good luck

Thanks for the input guys. I decided to go with the Pac Nor. They have an 8 week turn around. Went with a 30" 3groove .308. My smith will ream and fit to my action for me. The Lilja I think is just a little out of price range right now. I'll let you all know what's up after I get it all put together. Now if I could get Richard's microfit stocks to answer the phones. The phones have been "Tied Up" all day and can't get through to place an order.

As far as the bullets, not just yet. I would like to get into it some day, but need to take care of the kids after I get this build put together. I'll take it up later in life when the kids are older.
