who makes the best power dispencer and scale combo

I was wanting to know your guys thoughts on who makes the best combo of scales and dispencer. Really would like to see from someone who has used more than one. I am looking at the hornady and rcbs models as of right now. Thanks for your input.

my brother has an rcbs; i have lyman. i like the lyman better. have not tried any others.

They claim Prometheus as the best, but it looks cumbersome to me.
I love my ChargeMaster.

I had a Lyman DPS III and loved it until I got into long range shooting. Now I use it to get close and use my Ohaus beam scale to finish trickle the load. My extreme spread numbers look a lot better now.

I started with the RCBS Chargemaster, after 3-4yrs it finally died on me, dad bought me a Lyman DPS III for christmas, it worked for a total of 12 rounds of ammo before it would no longer turn on (Cabelas wouldn't take it back or exchange it). My hunting partner & I split the cost of a new Hornady a few months ago, so as far as a SWAG review would go:

#1- RCBS Chargemaster, worked very well for a few years, got to the point that the numbers in the center of the pad didn't work very well, then finally died all together after MANY, MANY rounds of ammunition loaded. Very good unit & I wouldn't have a problem buying another or recommending one to a friend. I believe it had the most accurate trickle of the three units i've owned.

#2- HNDY Lock n Load, this unit has worked quite well, although it is still new, it does overcharge more than my RCBS did, but after fiddling with trickle speeds It works very well, the weights throw evenly & & are accurate when compared to my RCBS 505 Beam balance scale, Very easy to use unit. If it continues to work as well as it does right now & will continue to use this over the RCBS as it is more cost efficient (read cheaper!).

#3- Lyman DPS III, Junk, (my opinion fellas), When it did work for the wopping 12 rounds it loaded before going completely to pot, the throw speed was slower than both the RCBS & the HNDY. The setup & design of the unit was well thought out, although going by the instructions (Which I did) the first time you use it you are supposed to turn the unit on & leave it for something like 24hrs, OK, whatever, then it's supposed to "warm up" for a designated amount of time before each use; which IMHO isn't a bad thing, if the electronics are that delicate & precise I figured it would be a small price to pay.
Yeah right..... anyway I obviously got a bunk unit, that happens with every manufacturer i know, but that's my experience with all three, I hope it helps your decision.

you can send that RCBS scale (just the scale part) to PACT and they can repair it. The Chargemaster is built by PACT; as is the regular electronic RCBS scale
