I m a new user.I need your experience. I m looking for a custom rifle for compete at F class to 800-1000 yards
I have the well known ausi sight NIGHTFORCE 12-42X br. I have seen at several e-sites the Barnard precision custom. For big caliber 6X

Which is your advice about a custom for this category

thanks for your time

I assume your talking about F-class Open as F-class T/R doesn't have that many caliber choices.

The main calibers choices greatly overlap with the same ones used in long range enchrest, except the large magnums due to recoil and a lower rifle weight cap.
6BR, 6BRX and other imps, 6.5-284 (one of the most popular, but short bbl life) 6.5x47 lapua, .284win (gaining popularity quickly), 7wsm, 7 saum, and 300 wsm. Ofcourse there are people shooting other stuff, but almost all wins are coming from a fast 6.5 or 7mm.

Welcome Flashpoint,
I started with just a hunting rifle. I then had made up a .308 on a Remington 700 long action with a 24" second hand 1.25" straight tapes Hart barrel. It didn't cost much and seems to do the job OK.

Depends on how much $$$$$ you want to spend.

ok

I want compete in F class restricted. I think in .308 caliber. Here in Spain can shot at 100,200 ,300m at least 500m. But its posible in few year we will reach 1000yards fields. For this I think its interesting to take a rifle with posibility of changing barrel and calibers
I wish buy a custom and have several posibilities. I make a resume of the pieces it would be

1) barnard precisiom custom with .308.

it can change the barrell and caliber in the future and is a rifle able to reach 1/8 MOA
It cost 4200€

the weight is at limit for restricted

2) remington m40 XB

1/8 MOA
4200€
In Spain is very difficult to change the barrell lengt neither caliber

3) Unique alpine (french I think,it dislike me)

1/4 moa
easy to change lengt and caliber
3300€
Unique-FMR RS-1 Sniper

5)Custom kelbly

1/8 MOA
possible to change the barrell
3500€ (with a cheaper stock)

wich would be your chose

Wrong site to ask that question.

Here is where the top F class guys hang out . Long range target shooting forum with detailed discussion on actions, calibers etc.

Top open class guys are using the 7mm 190 gr bullets in the 284 etc.

The 308 guys like the Barnard with 30-32" med palma barrels set up for either one of the 155s or the Berger 180s
