What do you yall do when your waiting for your build to come back from the smith? Is it me or does time seem to drag?

I spend my time here reading, looking for the next "money pit" project and tinker with whats in the safe,

How bout you?

How do I spend my time waiting for a build to be completed"

Well let's see.

I moved to New Mexico for 6 months. Moved back to Idaho. Did the normal home maintenance things. Mowed the yard once a week, new roof, new siding the next summer. Did some serious bullet testing with the 338 RUM and 300 gr Hybrids. Did some serious bullet testing with the 270 AM. Decided that the only way to get a bullet sufficient for the cartridge was to make my own. I came up with several ideas such as squishing a 7mm Berger down to 277 diameter. Dismal failure as Dave Corbin warned me.

Came up with a better idea of retipping Noslers. Worked out the techinque and proved the concept. Terminal performance was as good as the original bullets. Had Kevin Cram (Mounour County Rifles) make the tools for this DIY project. The tools work great. Now to get an outfit to turn out the points in quantity.

I then moved, with my wife, to down town Salt Lake City for an 18 month stint that allows very limited time for shooting.

I'm only two weeks into this stint so I suppose that by by Feb. 2011 the build may be finished.

That's the long answer.

The short answer is that I don't even think about it. Well not until I saw this thread.:) In fact I can only vaguely recall what it was I ordered.

The secret is to wait with aggressive patience, be happy and keep busy doing the important things.

Oh, and start when you're young.:D:D

Good to see you posting roy. I know a lot of folks have been asking about you. Guess the Black op theory just got busted!

I'll gladly take your dilemma! :D

Patience is a virtue, so they say ...

Hopefully, she comes on time for the hunting season. Any specs you can share?

Ed

FEENIX,

Nothing to spectacular. I had a Remington SA blue printed and a Schillen #5 match barrel slapped on in .308 win. (24") My intent was to have a semi light walking around rifle for pigs and deer. Apparently, my vision of the #5 countour was off. Its a little thicker and heavier than I expected, so looks like I have another long ranger in the mix now. (hate it when that happens)

1st smiths services were limited (work seems very clean though) so I sent the barreled action to Kevin last friday for bolt fluting, bolt knob, and a black cerakote finish. He's also scratching in the caliber designation on the barrel for me.

Stock is coming from HS, color still undecided. Glass is going to be a MK 4 4.5-14x50 IR., and it will ride on NF bases and rings.

I'll post pictures when its complete. Cross your fingers with me that she will shoot like her price tag suggests.

* Want to clarify that I am not complaining about smith turn around in this thread. Just wanted to know if yall get anxious too.
