I was wondering if anyone has used any 338 bullets other than SMK and now the berger, like GS, Wildcat, or Cutting Edge Bullets? most of them are out due to being cost prohibitive, but the Cutting Edge Bullets kind of have me intrigued. thanks in advance. heres a link to their site Cutting Edge Bullets

Have you tried the Lapua scenar or Hornady 250 gn Match?

No I haven't. The smk's are working okay for me I was just more curious than anything and saw that the cutting edge bullets were in the same state as me and also more reasonable than the others basically. Have you shot those other bullets? I read that the scenars don't do well on game

I have shot game with the Hornady Match bullets and they are excellent.
Not tried the 250gn scenars as the Hornady in 250gn is so good and I have heaps of 300gn SMK's.

I know others that have shot the 300gn scenar at game with good results.

Predator projectiles I have shot and they are OK on targets but as a solid, I am not inclined to shoot them at game.

I have tried the Henson AL tips without success. Also waiting on a new RMB I think around 280 gn with .9 + bc. WIlll run in std 1-10 barrels too.

Also spoke to a friend in the US yesterday that is testing a new sloid pill that is 263 grn and breaks into 4-5 sharp pieces on inpact under testing and could cause huge damage too.

That being said the 300 smk shoots like a dream...

Topshot... What the fark has been going on mate ? We got MDP his deer.. Did you see it ?

Been testing the Cutting Edge Bullets in .308 and .338 for about a year now with excellent results. If the weather holds out this weekend, we'll have some extreme range results from the new 300 gr .338 bullets out of the .338-.408 improved case.

DUH,
What a ripper, that SMK did a number on both of them from the looks of the photo's. I hear he is taking you out in the ocean to pat some sharks as a thank you?:D

Be heading up Benambra way in a week or so for a weeks hunting. Hope I have as much luck as Matty. Been sorting out my 300gn SMK load, suffering a bit of throat erosion from too much practice. Need to adjust the velocity down a tad.

Making a new back pack rifle to shoot the 250gn Hornady Match bullet. 9lb RUM or NSS.

Have to catch up.

Downunder
what problem did you have with the HAT
I'm getting great accuracy but haven't tried them on game

Were these the Gen I or II HATs.

And I'm not not familiar with these initials (RMB) is there a website for these bullets.

how are they on game? I am considering them, I spoke with Dan today, and he recommended the 64 or 65 in 252 to start with. I am shooting a 338 edge with a 34" barrel, I have shot SMK's at 2950. I tried the berger but so far got the nose slump issue I have been talking to Brian and will try a few things he mentioned if just for research purposes. Theres really nothing wrong with the smk's just exploring my options. I am in northeastern pa and just heard about cutting edge so I figured I would look into it more. any recommendations you can give me?

Howdy,

They were the GEN 1 models. We had stabilizing problems from the 1-10 twist rate.

Yes you are correct Rocky Mountain Bullets. Just waiting on them to get here currently.

Wasn't there a shoot in the Spring somewhere on an Indian reservation where they were going to test bullets at long range?

IIRC they were going to test the HAT bullets and a bunch of others for true BC, etc.

Did this shoot ever happen and where the results posted here.....It seems I missed it!

edge.
