I am working up a few loads for my .270. This weekend I got a great group using 140 accubonds with 53grs of H4350 with CCI large rifle primer. I don't own a Chrono yet does anyone have an idea of how fast this might be going? I have a 23" barrel. I'm thinking around 2900 fps. It doesn't list it in my manuals. Whats everyones opinion? Thanks for any replies

I am gonna guess 2800 -2850 at the most i find that the chronograph always hurts my feelings so i guess low and im right a LOT more often.

2900 is probably a pretty good guess. Using the data provided, QuickLoad says 2973 fps but I've not compared QL predictions with chronograph results for this particular cartridge and powder. It's usually within 50 fps with H4350 in my .30-06 and .243 so it probably isn't far off. With that in mind, 2900 fps to 2950 fps looks like a reasonable estimate.

Thanks guys I used to shoot Hornady Cstom Load 140 BTSP's and they went about 2950 or so and had good luck killing deer. Not the most accurate but never lost a deer either. I'm going to Colorado and Alberta this fal and want o try these accubonds on a big whitetail. Looks good on paper. I got a good group using 58 grs of H4831Sc and 140 accubonds. But the real honey load for the .270 with 4831SC is 60 grs and a 130 gr Hot core or 130 Hornady interlock. I'm guessing they are both over 3000 fps and maybe 3100fps. Good luck hunting I can feel the fall in the air.
