Well I wanted to build a nice rifle for the local steel matches and something I could go smoke ground pigs. the last one I built a few weeks ago was such a shooter, i figured I give the 6.5x47 a run for the money. I didnt have a chance yet to coat it with OD green moly resin, but that will be next week when I get back from shooting ground pigs. I finished up the rifle with the Badger bottom metal since it came in this morning, and ran out to the range to check a few loads. So far it seems to like 4350 and match kings. Ground pigs beware

Great looking rig, nice list of components. It looks like spiral fluting on the barrel, yes?

It is Spiral fluted, I only do this on my personal stuff since some patent offical was to lazy to open a machinest book and see that process has been around for decades.

that 24" barrel should make it nice and manageable. what bullets do you intend to use for varmints?

I been shooting the 123 Gr SMK thru it so fair. It shoots them pretty good, but need to try a few other powders to see if I can get the Velocity up a hair.

Here she is all dressed up for prom, and ready for the ITRC in Gillete next week
